CNN counterterrorism analyst Phil Mudd is known for making provocative on-air remarks and generally being fired up during segments. A CNN appearance on Friday, however, may end up being his most notorious yet.
Hours after the controversial Nunes memo dropped, Mudd indicated that the FBI was going to take matters into its own hands and make sure they eventually come out on top in a head-to-head battle with the president. With the FBI and its director already making their objections to the memo — which purports to show FISA abuses within the Russia probe — crystal clear before its release, Mudd said that agents at the bureau are angry and will stop President Donald Trump from dismantling the Russia investigation.
“The workforce will look at this and say this is an attack on our ability to conduct an investigation with integrity,” he exclaimed during a CNN panel discussion. “There are hundreds of agents and analysts working. This not just Christopher Wray, the FBI director.”
He continued, “So I’m going to tell you the FBI people are ticked. If you think you can push us off this because you can intimidate the director, you’d better think again. You’ve been around for 13 months. We’ve been around since 1908. I know how this game is going to be played. We’re going to win.”

It’s still got way more listens than its counterparts. I have asked Ronnie, who did the sound production, if he can get a more “redneck” voice in our recordings. And he says he may try. His is more of a straight Chicago voice, losing some of the sense.
You do not win running an operation this openly to take out a sitting president. This is rather scary they are so sure of themselves and are so blind to the consequences if they do pull it off while the American people are watching. People this arrogant and sure of themselves are dangerous.

This too will get pushed off of the news cycle by the next shiny bauble, and Donald probably even has a good idea what it will be (though God may surprise us with something out of the blue).

My few interactions with the FNI(as a HVAC contractor) showed them to be arrogant and self serving (righteous). The Secret Service guys, in contrast, are much more professional and at the same time more down to earth in attitude._

I thought the same thing. And if you believe that Mockingbird is real (I didn't used to, but I do now), it could be that his words were an activation code.

Roger Mudd (who will turn 90 next week) is related to Dr. Mudd (but not a direct descendant). I don’t know if he and Phil Mudd are related.
Anyone plotting physical harm to the President should face the fate of the Lincoln Conspirators. Quick trial by a military tribunal, public hooded hanging at the Capitol in retribution and as a signal to others contemplating similar crimes. BTW, Dr. Mudd, perhaps an ancestor of this blowhard, spent seven years in the Dry Tortugas federal prison for treating John Wilkes Booth after the assassination; he knew exactly who Booth was, just as much of a jerk as his descendant.
