I won’t really have an opinion on the superbowl ads. I won’t be watching.

This whole theme is only related to Dems/liberals trying to pretend that they have moral superiority.
So now that they are the only remaining audience for NFL, it is just a “feel good” thing for them to celebrate their perceived righteousness.

I’m sure they won’t mention the $16 million raised by Eric Trump in recent years for St. Jude’s Children Hospital.

Why do they say, in the Trump era, the controversial ads set off social media????? This didn’t happen before ever????
To: nickcarraway
Won’t be watching so I don’t care what they run.

I've noticed this trend in advertising - both corporate and local - for several years. Everyone is touting how much they are giving to charity, how they are "giving back to the community," and words like "love" and "family" are ubiquitous.
Partly, I think this is intended to avoid left-wing shakedowns and lawsuits; also, it reflects actual leftist thought, according to which running a legitimate business is not a sufficient way of "giving back to the community," i.e., it must be supplemented by well-publicized acts of charity and community activism.
And it often becomes open advocacy of leftist causes, e.g., last year there was a local (Seattle) ad featuring members of the Seahawks and Mariners touting the gay/lesbian agenda.

talked to a buddy in the league yesterday- due to poor TV ratings this year the NFL owes its advertisers $30 million in refunds and the belief is they will not charge for some super bowl ads in return...

Like some of my freeper friends, I didn’t watch the Super Bowl last year, I won’t watch the Super Bowl this year, and I haven’t watched anything NFL for many months. This will probably continue for the rest of my life.

There is only one reason that Superbowl ads will tout philanthropy — because it works to sell their products. The companies paying for the ads think that consumers will have good feelings about the companies due to the philanthropy ads, which will translate into sales. There is no higher purpose or meaning to them. They are crass and cynical.

Message to companies: I won’t be watching. The situation was made even worse by the NFL rejecting the Stand Up ad. I couldnt care less about the Super Bowl.
To: nickcarraway
In previous years, I watched the game mostly for the ads. Looks like I won’t be missing much in that department when I give the game a pass this weekend.
I figure I should be able to get a tee-time Sunday afternoon, no problem...
