1. Anyone who believes this somehow protects us against China is stupid.

2. Anyone who proposes it somehow protects us against China is evil, with another agenda.

3. Whomever made the proposal must be fired immediately. Today.

Wouldn’t this develop into central control and allow control of all phases and access, such as China now does to its own citizens?

AT first glance I like it. It’s limited in scope, it’s a national infrastructure and its the perfect answer to the potential of corporate censorship.

China has more tentacles in our government than Obama and Hillary combined.

A source familiar with the documents' drafting says Option 2 is really no option at all: a single centralized network is what's required to protect America against China and other bad actors.

Yeah, let's put all of our battleships in one line at Pearl Harbor, for protection!

Let's put all of our investments into one and only one company, for protection!

Let's have one and only one system, instead of several, so that someone (China or not) will only need to make one successful intrusion instead of several... for protection!!

Idiots.

The article says that they are considering it. Although the writer wants you to believe this action is imminent, it only means that they are doing their job of looking at all of the angles before making a decision. It doesn’t mean that they’ll actually do this.

We need a system redundant in many characteristics if it hopes to survive.

Bell Labs did a really good job of making their land line system robust (but not through redundancy). The current Cell Phone system is not nearly as good in the reliability metrics as a land line.

Let the peeps experiment on new systems with a goal of high reliability of communication.

Public Safety has had a monopolistic nationwide construct known as FirstNet foisted upon it. It is exclusively through AT&T. Many are predicting a dismal failure. This 5G Initiative sounds similar.

I’m thinking Fake News here. Last time I looked, they not only didn’t have 5G standards, they didn’t even have a 5G model, with some pushing for wider bandwidth on the current model, and others pushing for microcells.
