The U.S. Fourth Quarter GDP growth was reported two days ago at 2.6% and that stunned everyone who were expecting a much higher number. All U.S. economic indicators including U.S. Holiday consumer spending, which accounts for around two-thirds of total GDP, were off the charts in the fourth quarter growing +5.5% over the prior holiday.

This cynical manipulation of the numbers is going to come back and bite them.
Anything can be manipulated by numbers. Remember Obama revising the phony numbers several times and no one questioning. How about the Obama unemployment Fraud. He used different ucx charts(U1, U2, etc...) to get the numbers he needed. If Obama was accurate we now have more people working than the total jobs available!
During the Obama administration, the initial numbers were higher than the later revised truthful numbers, which afforded them glowing headlines.
Now it’s reversed.
Every month the numbers came out and were later revised downward. UNEXPECTED! Now I fully expect them to throw aside the U2 numbers they have been using for unemployment and revert to the traditional U6 numbers showing the number out of work and off the unemployment rolls.
Yep, this is the INVERSE of what happened during Hussein’s reign. For Obama, they always had the first announced growth estimates HIGH and then later QUIETLY ADJUSTED THEM DOWNWARD. For labor force employment gains, they did the same...announce HIGH and later QUIETLY REVISE LOWER. Rush Limbaugh had many a field day making fun of this so PREDICTABLE pattern/practice.
So don’t be surprised when the bureaucrats do just the opposite for Trump to create the public perception that things aren’t as good as they actually are.
So, in summary, color me NOT SURPRISED.

The problem with this strategy is that pollsters and statisticians (a group I know well) have lost the credibility they used to have. Like the mainstream media, their power is in the past and in their minds, but not as real as they still dream.

I remember listening on short wave radio to all the glowing five year plan results from Russia . Unfortunately, the Russian people were starving to death actually and daily.
They did the same against Bush 1.
There’s speculation that many firms pushed Q4 sales into 2018 to take advantage of the new lower tax rates.
Just like when they hid the bad news during the Democrat administrations when they would revise the number down at a later date, they will revise the number upward a month or two from now with no fanfare.
