Justice Department withholds majority of FBI texts
Washington Examiner ^ | 1/27/17 | Byron York

Posted on 01/27/2018 5:27:21 PM PST by Stingray51

The Justice Department has given Congress less than 15 percent of the texts between FBI officials Peter Strzok and Lisa Page... How many texts have been turned over? Both Justice Department and Capitol Hill sources say the total number is in the 7,000 range, which includes all the texts handed over on two separate occasions.

How many texts will be turned over? First, it's not possible to know how many texts from the Dec. 14, 2016 to May 17, 2017 time period will be recovered and turned over. But of the 50,000 the Justice Department already has in hand, officials say they have already turned over all they're going to give to Congress.

That means Justice has decided to allow Congress to see just 7,000 of a total of 50,000 Strzok-Page texts – slightly less than 15 percent of the total number of texts the Justice Department has now. Why is that? Justice Department officials point to a Jan. 19 letter from Assistant Attorney General Stephen Boyd to Capitol Hill investigators explaining which texts would and would not be turned over.

"The department is not providing text messages that were purely personal in nature," Boyd wrote. "Furthermore, the department has redacted from some work-related text messages portions that were purely personal. ....

Boyd said that "in a few instances," the Justice Department consulted with the office of Trump-Russia special prosecutor Robert Mueller and made some redactions "related to the structure, operation, and substance of the [Special Counsel's Office]'s investigation because it is ongoing." Hill investigators don't really know what that covers. (The letter said if Congress has questions about redactions in a particular text, the department would "work with" Congress to further describe or reveal redacted information "in a closed setting.") ....

Yes, the coward (or complicit) Sessions. It is now imperative that Nunes release the memo to the public and release it WITHOUT FIRST ALLOWING DOJ OR FBI TO REVIEW IT. Of course there is no doubt that the ‘RATS on Nunes’ committee will be telling Mueller what’s in it (if they haven’t already) first.

Suppose that some of these communications outline, suggest or plan assassination or other violent measures to stage a coup. Suppose that other names are mentioned in this connection, or CC’ed.

It would not be wise to make public this stuff until the principals are arrested.

Just supposing.

Sadly, I think you are correct. This is disappointing but I half way expected it. We will get no truth from our government. It is too corrupt. I appreciate Trump for trying but I don’t think anything will come of any of this. They will all skate and if anybody gets thrown under the bus, it will be Trump. :(

Isn’t it interesting that just a few days ago, the FBI just couldn’t find any of the emails that they now refuse to turn over to Congress; they’d been “erased” and just no one could find them except it turned of thousands of computer experts could. We have an American Gestapo.

WHAT?

Since when has Mueller been in charge of the DOJ. Are you kidding? Both Strzok and Page and still employed by our government. Obviously, they are not under investigation by Mueller, otherwise they would be on leave of Fired. Mueller in fact HIRED Strzok. Who, again, WHO in the DOJ is calling the shots to not release info related to Strzok and Page by Congress? They are obstructing justice.

Why are they consulting Mueller? He doesn't run the DOJ. Consulting with Mueller prior to releasing texts to Congress is against the LAW. Congress needs to act quickly to arrest those in the DOJ who are breaking the law. This is shocking, but will only help exonerate Flynn and continues to hi-light the corruption at the DOJ and FBI.

Congress has a request and you consult with Mueller ???!!! Whoever made the decision to 'Consult' with Mueller regarding a Congressional request needs to be outed and fired. Mueller isn't in charge.

So, what leverage does he have over them except administrative, which at this point they don’t give a shit about.

What’s Sessions gonna do. Send them home, put them in time out??? Like I said they don’t give a shit. People are being investigated for potential crimes that are punished by prison time. Do you think these people and the people how think they are really cool are just going to walk this stuff up in a red wagon???

The only way these documents are going to be turned in is as the result of a supple that has teeth.

The actions of the FBI and DOJ remind me of SOP of the intelligence agencies of former Communist Eastern Europe (USSR, East Germany, Romania, etc) shortly before it all came crashing down. The populace had enough information to know they had an upper hand and we’re determined to win but the establishment kept resisting and hoping against hope that they would survive. They didn’t survive.

I see this as a similar situation and believe the DOJ/FBI are fighting a losing battle and the truth will be revealed as long as we don’t give in and continue pushing for release of the ALL the info. Nothing less than 100% disclosure on the matter.

Actually, the evidence must be kept for the endless numbers of coming trials.

The swamp doesn’t want to be drained and is working against the drainer as hard as it can. That includes forcing him to blow his case

Meanwhile the sanctimonious know it all help by assisting the drainage resisters

All involved FBI should be arrested or taken into custody for sedition. I would hugely approve of late night SWAT raids like they did to conservates.
