I know this is dividing many on the right. Curious about everyone's thoughts on this proposal...

Well, is it shovel-ready?

Tonight, Daryl, I don’t give a damn about this socialist proposal. Trump has surrendered on the illegal alien issue. I had hoped that SOMEONE would stand for American sovereignty. Now, it is apparent that my kids and grandkids will live out their years in a Third World Banana Republic.

If the majority of the people on the “right” were more concerned about what’s good for the country than they are about who else on the “right” agrees or disagrees with every point they choose to blather about we’d have never had either Clinton or Obama in the Whitehouse

Sure was fun back in the days of freeways. Got to drive to last year’s solar eclipse WITHOUT spending a thousand dollars in tolls.

I guess those days are ending...

He campaigned on it, it hits his skill set well, and there are worse things on which to spend. I’m okay with it.

The first piece of infrastructure I want is The Wall. That’s it. And the WH proposal today is for 25 billion for The Wall - that is 1/40th of this 1 Trillion dollar proposal. In its heyday, the Iraq war was costing us over 100 billion a year. My point is that funding wall construction requires only a mere pittance, and what could be more useful infrastructure than a good fence around your land?

Very specifically, I would like to see Trump demand fixing the pipes for Flint, Michigan, and other cities with excessive lead in their water, as part of any infrastructure bill. Don’t give the cities or states a choice on that one.

It is immoral that we still have high lead levels in city water for large parts of what used to be major cities. Plus it would be great politics for President Trump to do that for urban areas that the democrats have never done anything to help.

Find about five big, long-lasting problems like Flint’s water. Fix all five as part of the infrastructure bill. Watch the democrats squirm, while we enjoy making America better. Bonus? Lead causes brain damage. Less lead means fewer stupid people and thus fewer democrat voters.

I don’t understand how this is dividing the right. Can’t everyone see a desperate need for money spent on our infrastructure?

What am I missing?

I’m more interested in who LEAKED the infrastructure plan versus what’s in it because once again that means someone untrustworthy is nearby...

If this is to cost the federal government $1trillion over X years, just divide the $1trllion by X, reduce federal taxes by the resulting amount (or refuse to raise them by that amount to fund the $1trillion) and leave the money in the states, which can well manage infrastructure projects on their own.

1. Phone, electric, gas, utility lines need maintenance and replacement. Remove the taxes on them and tell them to fix their own stuff.

2. Ike’s National Defense Highway system is complete. Hang a Mission Accomplished sign. What is needed is maintenance and short connectors built. State and Local are far more efficient at this than the distant Fed bureaucracy.

Eliminate all Federal Gas and energy taxes with a 5 year transition. Tell the tax collectors, the energy companies, to pay the tax directly to the state in which collected. The states have 5 years to replace the Fed tax with a state or local tax.... or not.

Key to me is this:

Transformative Projects Program: 10%
One tenth of the budget will be set aside for “exploratory and ground-breaking ideas that have more risk than standard infrastructure projects but offer a larger reward profile.” These sectors include: transportation, clean water, drinking water, energy, commercial space and telecommunications.
............
Kill the cost of energy and water and we have a successful 21st century.
