The White House will announce its own bill which codifies DACA into law and fulfills its stated immigration priorities next Monday, press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders announced at Wednesdays White House briefing.
This framework will fulfill the four agreed-upon pillars: securing the border and closing legal loopholes; ending extended-family chain migration; cancelling the visa lottery, and providing a permanent solution on DACA, Sanders statement said.
The press secretary gave scant information to reporters on what the permanent fix for the Obama-era protections for illegal immigrants will entail. Options include merely shielding these illegal immigrants from deportation and allowing them have work permits, grant them temporary protected status, or offer them a pathway to citizenship.
Trump has maintained his four immigration priorities throughout negotiations with democratic lawmakers over DACA. Democratic lawmakers, however, have been recalcitrant to appropriate the approximately $20 billion the White House has requested for a wall along the US-Mexico border.

I got The Art of the Deal for Christmas.
In a nutshell, it says, “There’s my way and the wrong way, my way or the highway.”
They are used to squishes. He ain’t `giving’ them squat.
Merit
E-verify
trump ran on stopping this Invasion not feeding it .
Trump grants Daca Amnesty for millions and he can't win in 2030
I have my own DACA plan, too:
Deport Alien Criminals Always
Dreamers are all the illegal aliens currently in the U.S. DACA only applies specifically to the children of illegals who were brought here when they were kids.
Permanent residency (green card) status only to the children of illegals. The rest would get deported. That should be part of any deal and it should be non-negotiable.
No amnesty!
They better add merit based to that equation....that will bring the number of green cards down by 70-80%
Yep ending chain migration is the biggie.
Exactly..and the green card should be merit based!..that would narrow the number down considerably...
“They are used to squishes. He aint `giving them squat.”
“Negotiating with Trump ‘like negotiating with Jell-O” ROFL! I loved that and got it.
Thank God this guy has a pair! We lucked out on this guy big time! He will keep this Republic going at least a few more years.
We're not going to deport people who were brought over here as children, had no say in the matter, have no attachment to the countries of their birth, and went on to build lives here.
It's just not going to happen.
We should've deported them the moment they crossed the border but we didn't.
That is the political reality.
Dreamers... Military service. Honorable discharge.
It's a dem / media phony crisis.
Why do anything ?
Obama created this phony group .
Why feed the phony trap .
That what it is and nothing more .
Why fall for it phony crisis ?
PING
Just to be clear, I summarized what I think I heard PDJT say on what he would propose.
I’m not sure I would feel great about militarizing the dreamers. Maybe a few here or there that have shown good citizenship coming up. Military service could be an option and a few steps on the path so to speak.
I really don’t think PDJT is going to give Schumer the pictures he wants by loading up buses on 3/6/18 with a bunch of young looking people to deport. That’s not going to happen and cryin’ Chuck knows it.
Let's think of the logic here .
We created 11 million new Democrats and Flip 5 Gop states to the Dems to solve a OBAMA CREATED PHONY Crisis no one cares about but the Dem Run Media .
We lose the 18 midterms in the process .
Not A Great Idea .
Give these Invaders Nothing .
We don't need to DO a thing .
There is no Real Crisis .
Trump should let his artificial new deadline just run out .
I would make it a bit tougher, but with a sweetener at the end for some:
DACA individuals (many are no longer kids) get an additional 5 year “deferral”, which can be renewed two times maximum, upon expiration of an initial 5 year deferral, for $500 in 2018 dollars for each renewal. (This is not unreasonable - current cost to renew a green card is $450 plus a $85 “biometrics” fee.) The initial deferral is at no cost to the individual, but all DACA2 (we’ll call it) individuals must supply all the same information as needed for a green card within 1 year of the signing of the legislation, or be ineligible. Maybe we’ll call the card issued to them a “purple card”. US Gov’t to provide pertinent PSA’s to be run on media outlets and web social sites, etc.
Once in possession of a “purple card”, DACA individuals can apply for a green card at any time, but, here’s the catch, purple card holders applying for green cards will be rolled into the per country immigration limit for their country of birth, and a merit system WILL apply*, so a DACA individual with Chinese parents, for example, will have to compete with other Chinese immigrants. Applications are “in line” once submitted, unless withdrawn by the applicant, the applicant immigrates elsewhere, or the applicant is deported for criminal activity, per rules similar to present rules (to include permanent exclusion in case of felony.) Applications can be updated at any time at no cost: If one obtains a Masters Degree in Physics from an accredited university, hey, that counts as more merit!
*I am not sure how “merit” is to be judged, but I’d add a bit each year the applicant is in school or stays gainfully employed, after initiation of the program. Applying for a green card early should also “count”, at least a bit. So should marriage to a US citizen: The longer the marriage, the more credit the applicant gets. Having kids counts a little too IF they get good grades, and only for the 1st two children. (Sorry, you can’t game THIS system by having 10 kids!)
New, lower per country immigration limits WILL be imposed per Trump’s written proposal in 2017.
With this in place, all green card holders may renew their green cards indefinitely (basically per current rules) and apply for citizenship as usual. The result will be fewer new immigrant voters, as overall immigration will be lower, and DACA immigrants will tend to “fill up” spots that would go to conventional immigrants, for 15 years.
An advantage of this plan is that most DACA immigrants “should” be already at least partially assimilated, and speaking English. This puts most low-skilled immigrants from outside the US at a serious disadvantage to immigrate here, which, given present US needs, is as it should be. (This may seem harsh to some, but, I would argue that in the long run it will enhance our ability to assist poor countries in time of disaster and so on.)
The Wall will be funded at a level of $10 billion in 2018, $10 billion in 2019, completed by 2020, and add $1 billion / year inflation adjusted thereafter for operation and maintenance — 2019 and beyond cannot be unfunded without votes defunding it, with Presidential approval, or veto-proof majorities. Or something along this line.
Chain migration will be limited to spouses and children under 21 years old. Unless abuse can be proven, immigrant spouses who divorce in 2 years or less must return to their country. (I actually have some ideas such that wealthy charitable organizations or individuals could sponsor hardship cases on THEIR [the organization’s] dime, but that’s rather beyond the scope of this post.)
End Visa lottery.
End “anchor babies” for illegals.
E-verify. Draconian fines & jail time for convicted employers of illegals. This assumes e-verify cannot be hacked - if it can, the employer likely would not be at fault. (Really Draconian fines and long jail time for e-verify hackers or attempted hackers.)
Clarification:
“immigrant spouses from outside the US who enter after passage / signing of the bill and who divorce in 2 years or less must return to their country, unless abuse or infidelity of the US spouse can be proven.”
This probably needs to be fine tuned a bit - the idea is to reduce marriages where the immigrant marries a citizen or green card holder merely to get here (sometimes with the agreement of the person on this end!) and then they split.
Heck, nothing is perfect - the above might lead to more pre-planned infidelity...
Ah, I’m obviously up too late:
immigrant spouses from outside the US who enter after passage / signing of the bill and who divorce in 2 years or less must return to their country, unless abuse by or infidelity of the US spouse can be proven.
Sheesh...
