New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, whose popularity soared during his first term but then fell from grace, leaves office Tuesday.
The Republican served a term-limited eight years in a majority blue state and spent much of that time in the national limelight as he built a reputation as a "tell-it-like-it-is" politician. But the Bridgegate scandal, a losing campaign for president and a day spent on a closed beach during a government shutdown left him with the lowest approval ratings for any governor in New Jersey history.
In Christie's first year, a YouTube video of a press conference went viral when a columnist asked if the governor's confrontational tone might hamper his ability to get bills passed.

From Trump’s perspective, he would have been completely untrustworthy as the U.S. Attorney General.
I remember hearing him at CPAC when he was running for governor the first time. He sounded so promising. Especially taking on such an entrenched piece of swamp debris as Jon Corzine.
Disappointing really.
He struggled to establish himself as a “moderate” GOP who could work with Dem party.
But it’s obvious that liberals prefer the guys who can work for Dem party.
He failed, blaming it on the legislature is no excuse. He failed.
I saw him in person once, he really had a God given talent of public speaking, he completely squandered it. All out ego it seems. Now he’s coming off as a bigger ego maniac than ever with these anti-drug ads he’s been running.
Quite frankly, we are all just hoping he’ll GO AWAY. He’s already making Murphy look good, which is just dreadful, but typical of Christie, I am very sorry to say.
I liked him.I think he’s up for Drug CZar.
Totally tubed his own career when he sucked up to Obama.
FAILED AT WHAT?
Skill set? The ability to eat mass quantities and abuse the powers of office?
>> A month or two
Christie was admired for years. Unnecessary pandering to the Obama Admin during the 2012 Elections wrecked Christie’s capital.
>> Christie should have been the AG, he would have prosecuted Holder quicker.
Doubtful. Giuliani, maybe.
No. EATER a donut shop.
Hugging the bamster started him on the road to ruin.Tone deaf for sure.
He was a Republican? who knew?
He was never a real star, no matter what Ann Coulter said at one time.
