At the 32nd Annual State of Minnesota Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration in St. Paul, Gov. Mark Dayton discussed the need for more progress in combating racism. This year's theme for the ceremony, held at the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts in St. Paul, was based on a statement the activist once made: "Life's most persistent and urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?'"
State Rep. Ilhan Omar (DFL) and St. Paul Mayor Melvin Carter both served as keynote speakers.
During the ceremony, Dayton expressed his concerns that indecency was gaining the upper hand.
"Here in Minnesota, Philando Castile is killed while driving his car because he has black skin," Dayton said. "The man who shot him is found innocent. In St. Cloud, a Somali pharmacist's store is vandalized and no one is found at all. Nor were the savages who trashed a child center in Shakopee or bombed a mosque in Bloomington."
Dayton remarked that all of the incidents should be shocking.
"Instead, too many decent people ignore them or pretend they don't matter," Dayton said. "Too many indecent people support them - even celebrate them."
The governor also criticized President Donald Trump, calling him "the worst public perpetrator of racism, bigotry and intolerance."
At the ceremony, 14 people were given awards for their commitment to service. Two educators were also given lifetime achievement awards.

He seemed to have forgotten about Justine Damond, a white woman murdered in cold blood by a Somali cop, who was only given a gun because of "diversity".
He slurs so badly, he could’ve been saying anything.
“Mark Dayton discussed the need for more progress in combating racism.”
That’s right. The rate of white-hating bigotry among American Negroes needs to be reduced from 100% to some more reasonable number.
Watch the video. I swear that someone impersonated him and he was lip synching.
His voice was too low and clear for it to be his.
Mumbles Dayton is a mucking foron. As soon as Saint Philandro Castille he said he would not have been shot had he been white.
And then the somalian cop guns down an unarmed white woman who called the cops for help and he goes dead silent.
Dayton is constantly high due to pain meds. He should have resigned long ago.
Typical. Why is it on every civil-rights or MLK Jr. anniversary the same refrain vomits up from the Left. “We’re making progress, but more needs to be done.” What more needs to be done? Blacks need to get over the past and start taking care of themselves and stop blaming Whitey for all their problems.
Exactly!!!
All time low in unemployment for blacks.
I guess that’s just not good enough.
$30 per hour minimum wage!!!
;-)
>> a Somali pharmacist’s store is vandalized and no one is found at all.
quite a large number of supposed hate crimes of vandalism are committed by the “victim” or other members of “the community”.
When such hoaxes are exposed, we are told to beware of backlash against the protected group. Why is there never any call from the Left to show restraint in painting ALL white people as vandals and haters?
I think you know the answer...
Why call for decency at the MLK parade when you let grown men dress as condoms and naked cheerleaders in the pride parade?
Well, that’s different...
“Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?’” <<<
NOPE..the question should be...WHAT ARE YOU DOING FOR YOURSELF!
As my dear departed mother used to say......If you cant take care of yourself....You cant help anybody!!!!!!!!
>>>As my dear departed mother used to say......If you cant take care of yourself....You cant help anybody!!!!!!!!<<<
Which reminds me.
My Late Mother used to say, “you take care of People who CAN’T help themselves, not People who WON’T help themselves”.
Her Sister, my Aunt was blinded by Glaucoma when she was in her early 20’s. Back then the only thing they could do for those afflicted is remove their Eyeballs to relieve them of the Pain. The pressure in the Eye does not stop once you are blinded by Glaucoma.
My Aunt worked most of her life sewing Garments in what we would consider a Sweat Shop today and she was very independent.
She despised the idea of People feeling sorry for her. She lived by herself for 20 Years after the death of her Husband. She died at age 89 and was as sharp as a tack.
Sounds like we both knew some tough Women. #;^)
All I can say is..we’re Lucky!
“As my dear departed mother used to say, if you can’t take care of yourself, you can’t help anybody.”
Very wise.
