We complain about how biased the so-called mainstream media is, but what do we do about it? CNN, MSNBC, NBC, ABC and CBS dominate TV news. The New York Times and The Washington Post dominate print media. Everywhere you turn you can’t escape their presence. CNN is carried in far more markets than Fox News. President Trump complained about having CNN but not Fox News when traveling in hotels overseas. Google News artificially elevates The New York Times and The Washington Post on its homepage and in search results.
A Pew survey just came out that revealed Americans trust our media even less than the Russians trust their media. Trump has drawn attention to the constant biased “errors” in mainstream reporting, referring to them as fake news. Almost every week there’s another story about false reporting, with a biased media organization forced to issue a retraction. We’re at a crossroads, where the mainstream media has lost so much credibility it may never recover to its former lofty status.
Since the Fourth Estate is so powerful, the best way to combat it is from multiple angles. First of all, stop sharing articles on social media from left-leaning publications. More than two-thirds of American adults get news from social media. Forty-five percent get news from Facebook. Eleven percent get news from Twitter. If you find a news article you want to share, look and see if Fox News, Townhall, or another site on the right has also written on the topic. And start sharing multiple sites and authors on the right, not just the most well-known ones. We need to get people used to seeing a full spectrum of sites on the right to choose from; have them become household names. You may not enjoy Twitter, but there are a lot of articles shared there now. Learn how to use Tweetdeck or another application with it in order to understand and make use of it.
Stop watching left-leaning network and cable news. Cable news is rapidly losing subscribers as people switch to streaming. Fox News has shows available to watch over streaming TV, including live over YouTube, which can be watched on TV with a PlayStation. There are conservative news stations that are generally online-only like NewsMaxTV. The Sinclair Broadcast Group partners with local TV stations to provide conservative leaning content. Find out which station in your area hosts their content and stick to that station if you’re going to watch a local TV station.
There will need to be some larger steps taken by wealthy conservatives on the right. Sites competitive with Google, Facebook, YouTube and Twitter will have to emerge. Right now there are a few minor competitors but none that are large enough to be effective. With the increasing censorship of conservatives on the big tech media sites, it is becoming even more imperative that alternatives emerge.
It’s going to take a concerted effort, but aren’t a few extra steps worth it to stop yelling at the news? There are already some signs it is happening. The rise of fake news exposed the fact that conservatives on Facebook are far more likely to share articles from conservative sites than liberal ones. Conservative Facebook groups are powerful and for the most part have escaped Facebook censorship.
The left-leaning media is helping to do itself in. The New York Times and The Washington Post only provide a few free articles before putting up a paywall. They have not adjusted to the reality of internet advertising and so are losing readers. While the Drudge Report still frequently links to those sites, sending over generous amounts of traffic, the average American - and especially the average conservative - doesn’t subscribe so they’re not reading and sharing.
It can work. Once Trump started praising Fox & Friends regularly, the show shot up in TV rankings. It is the number one cable news morning show. GQ calls it “the most powerful show on TV.” But Trump can’t do it all. If every red-blooded American just says enough and replaces the dishonest media with alternate sources, we can greatly diminish one of the most powerful left-wing influences in society.
If you find a news article you want to share, look and see if Fox News, Townhall, or another site on the right has also written on the topic.
Only fake news is welcome on twitter/fakebook.
They failed at controlling the internet.
We are nearing the end of broadcast TV, everything will be delivered on the network.
On the network content is king, we have the more interesting and truthful content.
We will win the media war.
The only news source I trust now is One
American News.
Many years ago, there was a rumor that Jesse Helms, the Conservative Senator from NC, himself a former media figure, might purchase a major media network, to which a central NC citizen responded, "I don't want Jesse Helms telling me what to think!
His knowledgeable friend responded, "Well, but that's what Dan Rather's doing right now!"
“We are nearing the end of broadcast TV, everything will be delivered on the network.”

Maybe national networks, but broadcast TV will be around for a awhile. There’s at least several dozen local broadcasters in my state.
Because they don’t like the truth.
Asking all the wrong questions. “Will have to emerge”? Dude, they’re EMERGED. The MSM will fail under the weight of it’s own incompetence but so what? The MSM is not where most people get their news these days.
The snippet below is in regard to a Pew Research Study, so if you’re going to bitch about Pew being left-wing, bring some better stats and I guarantee you they will make the same point even more strongly:
“In May last year the researcher reported that 62 per cent of American adults were obtaining news from tech platforms, saying 18 per cent were doing so often. Now, in its latest survey, it says two-thirds (67%) of U.S. adults are reporting getting at least some of their news on social media. While a fifth (20%) report doing so often.
And while its not a huge increase, it is nonetheless a rise (Pew terms it a modest increase).
And a concerning one, given that the main social media purveyor of news Facebook has a demonstrable disinterest in and/or incapacity to distinguish fact from nonsensical fiction on its platform.”
And yes, it’s a problem, but not the one this article asks. They’re worrying about buggy whips in the automobile age. That little prick Zuckerberg is a lot more important to this debate than Rupert Murdock is.
Correct. Russians, who are accustomed to having their media lie to them, actually think our media is worse.

That is why they hate Fox News and the Internet.... and tried to regulate both through the Fairness Doctrine. If they can't dominate something, the try to control it through government agencies like the FCC.
It is time to stop calling them the Mainstream media. We should be calling them the Democrat Media. It will make their heads explode and put them entirely on the defensive. Call them the Democrat Media every chance you get.
Yeah they make mistakes. But let’s look at the lame street media including Faux News. They all promoted the story Pres. Trump called Haiti and other countries shit holes and only ater a couple of days suggest that he was alleged to have said that.
The media finds it easy to promote a lie to push a political agenda. They go on t.v., look at us in the eye, and lie.
They are funded by commercials that are also dishonest. We are also sick and tired of the hate they like to peddle.
I stopped long time ago to call them the Mainstream media. I refer to them as either the Drive-by media, or the lamestream media.
Oh how I hope you are right.
I love these Q style trends. At first I thought, wait. How can anyone trust the q anons of the world? Then I realized there isnt much that allows us to trust the mainstream media, that is considered fact historically and by many Americans. Without being fact, necessarily. So the websites, you tubers, and message boards need to rely on viewers common sense and logic. The media doesnt. Big bold colors, headlines, graphics. Announced by ladies with boobs hanging out and too much makeup, so it has to be true.
There are things the little people can do, but it really does take big moneyed conservatives to come forward. Why more don’t come forward I don’t know.
Here in Canada, Pierre Peladeau really gave it the old college try with Sun News. It really was a conservative network. The problem is, and it took years of my own denial, Canada just doesn’t have a market for conservatism. Not a big enough one. So Sun News folded.
The election of Donald Trump should at least attest that there IS one in the United States. At least I hope there is.
Most of the fourth estate has morphed into the Democrat “Free’ Press (ie you can express want you want long as you agree with us).
Faux News did itself a credit hiring Tucker and Graham. So I still think there is a chance to save it.
