Sen. Ted Cruz, Mayor Sylvester Turner react to Trump's reportedly explicit comment on Haiti, Africa

“I wasn't in the meeting with the president so I don’t know what he did or didn't say. I can tell you my family, Heidi as a child lived in Africa, she lived in Kenya and Nigeria. Her parents were missionaries there. My brother-in-law has been a missionary with his wife and sons in Haiti for many years,” Cruz said.

President Trump denied using the vulgarity.

“The language used by me at the DACA meeting was tough, but this was not the language used. Never said anything derogatory about Haitians other than Haiti is, obviously, a very poor and troubled country,” Trump tweeted Friday morning.

Cruz said the approach he tries to take in Washington is to stay out of the nastiness, attacks and insults and focus on substance and results instead.

Cruz and Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner were both asked to respond to the president’s reported statement during a news conference about tax breaks and federal funding for Harvey flood victims.

“The comments were highly unfortunate and shameful. We are an inclusive society. Every person has value. Every community is important and we should be lifting up and not tearing down,” Turner said.

"Hold on now, I don't know what Donald Trump said but Heidi went to Kenya as a child and now works at Goldman Sachs so let me speak on this."

Yes indeed, Heidi is truly a minor Goldman Sachs person, The Donald only hires Real Goldman Sachs upper muckity mucks for HIS cabinet

There is is again, that election buzz word which was used so often by anti-Trump Con-servatives. Never mind all you Con-servatives were no where to be seen in the decades leading up to Trump and in fact supported open border globalist stooges like the Boosh family.

“Yes. Those people are pathetic. They’re consumed with irrational hate, and it destroys their minds. It’s something they have in common with demonicRATs.”

I learned long ago to just let things go.
To turn the other cheek as the Good Book tells us.
It is so much better for you spiritually, emotionally and physically.
I even forgave my cheating, lieing, spendthrift first wife. And felt better.

>>You guys are absolute, brain-dead, conservative-hating idiots. Useful idiots of the Left, hating on a good conservative representative.<<

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

You could be right, although it makes me one of the idiots.

But I am still waiting for Cruz to get on the Trump train. Then all will be forgiven,

Trump is the General of our Army to overthrow the leftist deep state parasite and save the USA; and, I believe Cruz should recognize this. It’s a war, and no time for questioning leadership. Just do it.

Just light your Trump candles and leave thinking to, well, thinkers.

I would like to re-use this next time "D-bag" comments on something with his usual eloquence

“If Trump doesn’t hold a grudge, there’s no reason for his supporters to.”

Exactly.
I supported Cruz.
Plenty of mud was slung by everyone in the primary.
Cruz made a few slips like the Chicago statement and his dalliance with Glenn Beck.
Between those and Trumps passion my support started to slide to Trump.
Today I am happy with the President I voted for.
No one works as hard as he did unless he REALLY wants the job.

Just MAGA baby!

Btw, for the record, I supported G. Bush early on, then came 911 and a decades long, “Compassionate war” costing trillions. What a costly con job.

I didn’t say a word about Cruz.....I fixed a statement.

Canada is Canukistan.

It really offends my Canadian relatives when I call it that. The last time I was over to see them, I had to ask “What have you done to your country? I feel like I’m in Mogadishu, not Toronto”

The Chicago thing started my turn from Cruz to Trump. When he allied himself with Glenn Beck that pretty much ended things for me. My support went fully Trump.

I’m very happy with President Trump and the heroic job he is doing.

You have to let things go.
Turn the other cheek.
Be the bigger man, or woman.

Constantly posting snide comments about Cruz makes you no better than those Cruz supporters you detest.
Most of them are gone.
Time heals all wounds, if you let it.

Best regards fellow patriot.

I’m more inclined to think he’s using that type of speech here, but I’ve voiced my thoughts on it, so I’m not interested in beating it to death beyond what I’ve already said.

He’s been involved in things since before the Bush White House, and I don’t think he says things by accident. I think he is calculating, and here I’m not sure if he understood exactly what the implications were.

At any rate, thanks for the note.

I was a supporter of Ted for the VP slot, but at one point I finally came to the point I withdrew that support.

“Some of us remember the merciless way the Cruzer’s endlessly and mercilessly attacked us for merely supporting Trump.”

This primary was nasty, no doubt.
I started as a Cruz backer but ended up firmly in the Trump camp

Both sides were very passionate about their candidates and it turned ugly quick.

“By the time their last attacks faded away, and without a single apology to us for simply supporting the winning candidate, those memories are in-bedded in my DNA.”

Unfortunately the passion of the primary burned very deeply in a bad way.
I publicly ate my plate of crow here.
It wasn’t tasty but I needed to do it.
I value the wisdom, wit and camaraderie of Free Republic too much to let a primary get in the way.

The right candidate won and I am proud of the Herculean job he is doing in the swamp.

“Cruz seemed to bring out the very worst in Freepers.

It was the passion of the candidates supporters that brought out the worst in us.
President Trump seems not to be holding a grudge. It would behoove us to follow the lead of the man we elected to lead us.

I find it bizarre some countries seem so committed to national suicide. I can only surmise their leaders have agendas of bad intent. Before the Trump era, the U.S. was headed the same way.

“I can tell you my family, Heidi as a child lived in Africa, she lived in Kenya and Nigeria. Her parents were missionaries there. My brother-in-law has been a missionary with his wife and sons in Haiti for many years,” Cruz said.”

He should have continued with: in all of those countries, with few exceptions, people stand over a hole to do their business. It’s true. There’s a reason they are called 3rd world countries.

.....cRuz speak....Always the SAME stories. The ‘my dad came to this country with his few $$ sewn into his underpants’ got really old, fast.....

Just like Hussein’s folks meeting at Selma, walking the bridge, it’s a damn lie.

Cruz’s snake charming daddy is full of surprises. His legal name in Cuba was not Rafael Cruz. He immigrated prior to ‘Operation Pedro Pan’ ( no dinero in the briefs) and likely with the help of The Agency. He has a degree on paper from U. of Texas and was a bigamist for 20+ years.

A Cuban national for 30 years, a Canadian for 32 years and recently (when Ted entered politics) became a US citizen in 2005.

On the contrary, the real creativity on this thread belongs to the Cruz supporters. Some have actually presented Ted’s comments as being supportive of Trump. Those are the imaginative ones. Their fairytale is as extraordinary as it is incredible.

Just heard Sen John Cornyn’s reply, to the same question, on our local news.

Not a Cornyn fan, but I think his reply was the appropriate one......

....I wasn’t present, in that meeting, however, I choose not to be distracted from real issues we are dealing with.

End of story.

They also played cRuz’s self-aggrandizing statement. I’m not sure if I was more disgusted by his terrible statement, or his ‘now, look...look at me take over this podium and make this about me’ body language. Blechhhhhh.
