We have an update on the previous thread, which I'll link below. Trump denied saying "sh*thole" in the meeting, Dick Durbin came out and said Trump said it:
In the course of his comments, [President Trump] said things which were hate-filled, vile and racist, Sen. Dick Durbin says of sh*thole countries comments. He said these hate-filled things and he said them repeatedly. http://cbsn.ws/2mngMu4
Of course, he then dramatized it to the extreme:
"The most disheartening thing to me is, my belief that, that was the first time words that hateful have been spoken in the Oval Office of the White House," Sen. Dick Durbin says http://cbsn.ws/2mngMu4
However, he said that Lindsey Graham was in the meeting and stood up to Trump and that other Republicans told him they didn't like Trump's words:
NEW: "Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina spoke up and made a direct comment on what the president said. I was very proud of him. It took courage for what he did," Sen. Dick Durbin says, firing back at Pres. Trump's denial of "sh*thole countries" comment

Jake Tapper went and then talked to Flake who never misses an opportunity to trash Trump but apparently who wasn't in the meeting:
Sen. @JeffFlake to me just now:
"The words used by the president -- as related to me directly following the meeting by those in attendance -- were not 'tough,' they were abhorrent and repulsive. There is no good explanation."
Flake tells me before the @washingtonpost broke the story, he was told of the comments by @SenatorDurbin and a GOP Senator who attended the Oval Office meeting . 2/
Flake said he was told what CNN reported: that the president referred to African countries as "shithole countries," and of Haitians asked Why do we need more Haitians? Take them out - meaning take them out of the deal.
See this thread:
So how and why is President Trump denying the remarks that he reportedly said?
I have some clarifying reporting from a source familiar the meeting. I want to start by saying that this does not make what he said any more acceptable, but it might shed some light on it all. 1/
The president did not refer to Haiti as a shithole country according to the source familiar with the meeting though he DID say it about countries in Africa...
What happened, the source says, is there was a conflation of two different remarks by the president. 2/
First, when talking about temporary protected status countries as part of the immigration deal it was mentioned that Salvadorans, Hondurans and Haitians have that status. 3/
Haitians? the president said. Why do we need more Haitians? Take them out - meaning take them out of the deal. 4/
Then in a separate part of the conversation when they were referencing the diversity visa lottery, President Trump referred to people coming from Africa as coming from shithole countries.
Again, Im not saying this is better. Just that this is what happened, per my source. 5/
6/ So that might explain the kinda-pushback from POTUS today. -fin-
That was Jake Tapper. The White House didn't deny the statements last night, and it doesn't help that meeting was full of some Republicans who are conservative and like Trump (Graham likes Trump despite their disagreements) and who haven't come to his defense. Now would be the time for them to come forward.
Look, I don't like the term and have said that, but if he said it, he said it. It's best just to admit to it because denying it and getting rebuffed just gives you double the problem. The best thing to do is issue a statement immediately via Twitter or the White House clarifying his comments. It's not good to give the media a full night to call you racist without rebuttal.
The key to such a meeting is to assume the Democrats/RINOs will leak the whole thing to the press. Watch everything you say and possibly have someone video the meeting or record it so there is no deniability.
Flake is a complete disgrace.
So Flake can only say that he was told by someone else what was said. That's far short of "confirming" in my book.
Oh, I’m fainting, I’m fainting. He said “shithole” to refer to third world shitholes?? And ..?? He’s got my vote.
That is an insult to all teenage girls.
Your title is inaccurate. Flake was not in the meeting, so he can’t back-up anything about what was said in the meeting.
If anyone believes this line, then they are dumber than a box of nails.
The pow-wow was congressional leaders.I’m pretty sure Flake is not in the leadership.
I hope Trump had a video camera and/or audio recorder running in that meeting.
Awareness that some countries are hellholes makes a person a realist - NOT a racist.

White Liberal Elites want MORE immigrants from countries that produce higher percentages of democrats.
The statistics exist. The deep state is NOT releasing the truth about immigrants from different regions because immigration as it is favors democrats.
Do immigrants from Ukraine cost American taxpayers our treasure? More or less than Norway or the Democratic Republic of the Congo?
American taxpayers have the right to know....
Daylight come, and I wanna go home. (H. Bellafonte)
Since Haiti is not a shithole, then there should be no objection of returning illegal Haitians back to Haiti.
Jeff Flake Backs Up Durbin - Says Trump Did Say Sh*thole
Speaking of lying. The headline is alien in that Flake is only relating what Durbin told him. He wasn’t at the meeting.
The press lies, and lies, and lies. I want them all to be whipped within an inch of their lives with a wet noodle.
I would not classify Flake as an unbiased source. Cotton, Perdue, McCarthy and Diaz-Balart were all there. Why haven’t they given their account of what actually happened?
Trump used the right words to describe the countries under discussion.
Why would the media be outraged by words coming out of the mouth of a fellow traveler?
Flake didn’t hear it, Durbin told him:
“Sen. @JeffFlake to me just now:
“The words used by the president — as related to me directly following the meeting by those in attendance — were not ‘tough,’ they were abhorrent and repulsive. There is no good explanation.”
Flake tells me before the @washingtonpost broke the story, he was told of the comments by @SenatorDurbin and a GOP Senator who attended the Oval Office meeting”
