More Hobby Farms Means More Maimed Farmers
The risk of serious injury or death has always been a part of farming.
CONTRIBUTOR: Rick Callahan
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) Phil Jacobs was just a teenager when his parents bought a scenic Kentucky farm with hayfields, forests, creeks, trails and a view of the Ohio River. Decades later, he still spent time there, maintaining the property as a second job and using its campsite for family getaways.
The Lawrenceburg, Indiana, anesthesiologist was removing dying ash trees in June 2015 when his tractor overturned as he was pulling a tree up a hill. He died instantly, at age 62. The tractor, which dated to the early 1960s, had no rollover protections.

Why not make your like clickable?
I guess I should spell check
like s/b link
FR has posting nuances where a link is automatically clickable, given no html in the rest of the post.
It took me years to realize this.
Fix your own problems as “links” are copyable and can be dragged to the browzer URL field. Easy peazy.
Get a life.

There are hundreds of freepers that pretend to know about modern US agriculture. Just start a discussion involving the carbon cycle, GMOs, pesticide use and they come out of the urban woodwork as experts.

That’s it. Too many deaths. Have to stop this.
More farming is good. At least people are getting out of the urban hell-holes and getting their hands dirty.

Solution: Increase regulations to squeeze out all but the largest corporate farms. Problem solved.
I knew young farm kids who were killed or injured including a cousin and a close friend who were both killed as teens. Seems like most everyone I knew had some kind of close call and learned from that.
When they out law tractors only out law farmers will have tractors.
Thanks.

I might not have hit [Enter} after the link.
Something like that!
Right! The nannies rushing in to stop a hobby that sometimes involves large machinery, accidents and snakebite. Sheesh. What a nation of babies we are becoming. Seems to me in all the history books and novels like the Little House on the Prairie, farming accidents are part and parcel of living in a big country, lol.
Also, the ding-dong link in the main post is clickable.
