Rep. Kevin Cramer, a North Dakota Republican, announced Thursday he will not challenge sitting Democratic Sen. Heidi Heitkamp in the Senate race this fall.
During an interview with KFYR radio, Cramer said he and his family decided the best decision was for him to just run again for his House seat. The move is seen as a blow to Republicans who hope to pick up the seat in the traditionally deep red state.

Cramer's announcement comes after Cramer told CNN last week that President Donald Trump was urging him to run for Senate.

Never put your faith in republicrats. It is all part of uniparty
Go Campbell. . . . .
The current leadership of the RNC was appointed by President Trump and Trump himself does fundraisers for the RNC. Their turnout operation in the 2016 election was second to none.
Her opponent last time also had won statewide but she still managed to win...maybe a fresh face would be best, plus it wouldn’t create an open House seat.
In addition, if someone would want to do some underground mischief, she does have a primary opponent. ND is s small state where that could be effective.
WIMPS!
I would actually rather his wife ran than him.
And don’t his sons live in Utah? Why not one of them? Why a 70 year old as a freshman Senator?
Because she has to wear a mask otherwise she’d never have a chance in that state. They are frauds.
Yes, Berg. I don’t recall the deets but he ran a poor race, who knows, his lesser primary opponent, Duane Sand (who twice lost to Pomeroy and once to Conrad), who took a meaty third of the primary vote, may have run a better race and won.
I didn’t know a Berniebot was going after her, Manchin has one too. We should be Regina Seltzering the heck out these bastards, absolutely.
I was worried that Cramer might not go for it, especially since he’d been so quiet on the prospect. Frankly, there’s no excuse for him not to. Running at-large means he could easily segue into the Senate seat and perhaps even scare Heitkamp out of the race. This seat hasn’t been won by a Republican since Wild Bill Langer in 1958, shortly before his death (one of a small number of Republicans to survive the horrific slaughter of that year, the worst GOP losses in that body in the popular vote era).
Absent Cramer, this will be far more difficult, although not impossible. The big mistake in 2012 is that Cramer should’ve run for the Senate outright and Rick Berg should’ve stayed put in the House (though there was no particular reason at the outset to think Berg couldn’t win an open seat fresh off his defeat of Earl Pomeroy).
What are Heidi’s weak spots that could make her vulnerable? Don’t know anything about this woman.
The GOP helped Regina Seltzer win the RAT nomination by running billboards in which the party thanked Congressman Michael Forbes (who had been a Republican until maybe a year before) for his votes in favor of the Contract with America. Given that Heitkamp and Manchin have been RATs throughout their Senate careers and havent voted with the GOP on anything important, it would be very difficult to tout their respective voting records publicly in a way that would be effective in convincing ND and WV Democrats to vote for their moonbat challengers. Besides, I dont want anyone even to imply that those two faux-moderate Communists have voted anywhere close to how a Republican would have voted. Even the worst RINOs in the Senate have far better voting records than those two (the most liberal RINO in the Senate is Susan Collins, and even she voted for the nuclear option to get rid of the filibuster for SCOTUS nominations, while Manchin and Heitkamp voted to keep the 60-vote requirement to get the Gorsuch nomination to the floor).
It was easier just complaining and talking about what they would do to please their constituents, but they don’t like being responsible when they actually have the power to the things they said they would. Just a bunch of phonies, like the democrats. One and the same.
We have a winner.
Thanks napscoordinator. He didn't stand a chance, so everyone just take another jack and a beer back and quit whinin'.
Someone could run as an independent. Drain the swamp.
With 30 retiring it’s easy to see they are deep state. Drain the swamp.
People should run as independents. The Gop has always been the problem.
Absurd, a vote split guarantees a rat victory.

Closet conservatives should run as "green" independents....Learn to "talk the talk". You could have a fake union-thug candidate, a fake black candidate, a fake queer candidate....
Split the vote the other way.
