California was the template to change national voter demographics through legal and illegal immigration.

Despite the presence of rock ribbed conservative Freepers in the land of Jim Robinson, California seems to be a lost cause.

Though I’ve never been there, I’ve read much about California.

I’ve met people who lived there in the 1950’s, 60’s, 70’s and 80’s and so many of them described it as great - a land of great weather and more importantly, great opportunity. It was never perfect but most seemed to enjoy it. In many ways, the American Dream could be found there.

But from all accounts, it has turned into a cesspool. Bad transportation infrastructure, bad schools, crime, illegals, etc - you name it, California has that affliction.

Years ago, I’d have loved to have lived there. Orange County, the San Fernando Valley, Santa Barbara, etc. But now I’m not even sure I’d want to visit.

A lot closer than they ever would have gotten without Reagan’s amnesty and two Bush Presidents who refused to enforce the laws.

I thought Northern California (Sacramento) and and East California (is that even a term) was conservative?

Has the state been gerrymandered that badly?

There’s nothing ‘Democratic’ about the democRAT party. They should just merge with CPUSA and get it over with.

Even if we are facing a tough off year election, and I suspect we are, I doubt we will loose every seat. Some of those districts are very rural and conservative. But all of that said, off year elections are usually bad for the party in the White House. I suspect that we could be in for a long and unpleasant night.

UGH!!!

It irritates the heck out of me that they use Democratic when they should be using Democrat. When talking about a political party it is democrat party or republican party. When talking about a form of government it should be a Democracy (which we are not) or a Republic (which we are).

Just one or my many pet peeves but I won’t go into that now.

the GOP still retains a bastion of support in the southern part of the state, anchored by conservatives in Orange County and the military’s heavy presence near San Diego.

Orange County went for Hillary in 2016, the first time the County went for a Democrat since 1936(!). Changing demographics is part of it, but Trump also lost a lot of college-educated white people who used to be solid Republicans. (Nationwide, he more than made up for that by picking up white working class voters who used to be Dems, but there aren't many coal miners in Orange County.)

But when one is identifying the most Democratic state in the country, Massachusetts usually isn’t the first state that comes to mind. Instead, that honor disgrace belongs to California,

Fixed.

It already has it. It’s just that some of them have an “R” next to their name.

Even after the bigly ass kicking the Donkeys take in 2020 there will be no Republican House members north of Pennsylvana and none west of Nevada except Alaska. The donkeys will be bunkers and about 10 states will look like Massachusetts.

After the DemocRATS took Trump for granted that he'd lose, they won't make that mistake again.
They'll never leave another election up to the voters.
