A math education professor at Brooklyn College contends in a recent academic article that meritocracy in math classes is a tool of whiteness.
Laurie Rubel implicates both meritocracy and color-blindness as ideological precepts that hold back racial minorities from succeeding in math classes in an article for the peer-reviewed Journal of Mathematics Education.

LOL, that is one hell of an answer!!!!!!
"The whole is greater than the sum of its parts."
Works for multiculturalism as well.
As Al Gore once said when bloviating about the phrase "E pluribus unum," "Out of one, many."
This is actually a WHITE SUPREMACIST argument —
“If the world were a meritocracy, then all the people at the top would be White (and Asian, certainly) and all the people at the bottom would be Black.”
Think about that. People on the Left hold that view and the only way to hold that view is to believe that Whites are inherently superior to Blacks.
It’s an awful way to look at the world. It’s pure racism.
Tell that to the Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Indian and Iranian students who are frequently at the top of the international math lists, and who dominate the scores in Canada and US in spite of their relatively small numbers. The success of other racial minorities puts a lie to the claims that “white oppression” is the cause of black and hispanic academic failure. Are asians that genetically wired for math, or is it because most of the kids are in stable families where academic success is encouraged and hard work by the kids is expected. If you’re a 12 year old black kid growing up in south Chicago and your 26 year old mother has no idea where you are at 11 pm on a school night, then it’s not a recipe for success. The problem needs to be identified and dealt with. Permitting sub-standard math results as some sort of affirmative action program will harm all American students.
Peer reviewed indicates that there are other "academics" who read and approved this drivel for publication. That is so sad. You expect this sort of crap in sociology, the arts and other "soft" subjects, but MATH--just damn!
“Meritocracy is a tool of whiteness, claims math professor”
That’s why diversity is such an important factor in hiring. Because the person most highly “qualified” is usually a white guy.
A plague o' the lot of 'em.
Dunno.....she might already of the initials L A M stenciled on her derriere.
I just marvel at the idea that someone could make that argument, apparently not realizing what it says about himself.
Whats his take on AA and EEO?
"Out of one, many" is usually the intended result of a bomb attack. As in, "Rest in pieces."
Peer reviewed? They must be cowards.
Thus goes the integrity of that journal, if they had any to begin with.
The likes of her want us eliminated.
The meme is, I believe - ‘There are many ways to get the right answer (in math); do the one that enhances your self-esteem.” (math tutor here).
How did the professor get tenure?
She is yet another justification for the dissolution of Colleges of Education.
Precisely.
Incredibly, these “academics” are overwhelmingly bots and lemmings for Marx.
The crazy thing is that Republicans don’t care, and neither do conservatives. We regularly deliver to them our own kids, generation after generation.
We have careers and cars and buying stuff to attend to, don’t cha know.
My Dad worked for a printing company for many years.
My brother ran a Graphics company for many years.
Both of them either prepared , proof read, or printed thousands of textbooks. I do mean THOUSANDS.
I am plenty sure than all those textbooks in each topic were the same. There were NOT different books printed for blacks.
IF you don’t actually attend classes-—don’t actually do the homework-—don’t actually take the tests or pass them, you are doing YOURSELF massive damage.
Don’t expect sympathy from me or others who did all of the above & learned something.
