Of all the new laws going into effect Monday (legal cannabis in California, higher minimum wages in several states, and many more), you may be surprised about which one drew the most backlash online. It appears to be Oregon House Bill 2482, which allows people who live in counties with 40,000 residents or less to pump their own gas.
Oregonians aired their frustrations on Facebook over the new law. And just about everyone else in the country made fun of them.
New California laws going into effect in 2018 New era opens in California with first sales of recreational marijuana "I don't even know HOW to pump gas and I am 62, native Oregonian.....I say NO THANKS!" said Sandy Franklin on Facebook, in response to a post by local news station KTVL that asked for viewers' opinions on the new law.

I’ll never forget the OR gas station attendant sitting with her back to the pump, smoking a cigarette. “Born to Lose” prison tattoo on her forearm completed the picture.
what i read...
This only affects counties with 40,000 or fewer people...
It’s optional. they can still offer full service.
My guess is like most small towns, gas stations close, and this allows them to join 48 other states in allowing pay at the pump sales after closing.
the only other state that does not trust you with a gas pump is New Jersey.
I know what you mean about a picture.
I think the version we had was a complete set that someone gave to my brother, so it may have been a hand-me-down.
I predict a flurry of pump explosions from people lighting cig at the pumps.
One time filling up in the middle of rural PA late at night I helped a stranded young woman from NJ who drove out and realized the hard way everyone else pumps their own gas. She didnt have a clue
It’s technically illegal for someone to touch the pump in NJ and I hate it. You have to wait for these lazy jokers who will scratch your car AND expect tips for their half-assed window wash.
I’ve been doing basic gardening for about 3 years now. Learned a lot already. Don’t grow much to make a difference but at least supplemental stuff that I don’t have to buy. Mostly peppers and tomatoes. Now I pick my plants and seeds a bit better after experimenting.
Lefties are allergic.
My favorite GEICO commercial of all time - politics aside

Connie’s reaction is perfect
My goodness these people are pathetic.
Everyone wants to make fun of us but our gas pumps don’t have skimmers attached to them because of the attendants.
The last two times we traveled out of Oregon, our card was compromised at unattended gas pumps.
You don’t know how to pump gas? I’m a teen and I know how to! You want to admit you don’t? You never drove to another state? Unbelievable!!
My daughter and I were talking about the days when I would give the attendant $5 and tell him to fill it up. He did all the other things too. Those days are long gone.
In a remote area like I live in, everybody grows a lot of their own veggies, since the nearest store with a good selection of produce is 18 miles away-and we all barter with each other anyway. Winter is the only time people are not growing gardens here and have to go buy produce. Store bought tomatoes and serrano peppers have no taste at all compared to home grown.
I remember those days. We could get gas on odd/even days. We had to go across the TN River to find gasoline. Those were the days, my friend!
Not all that hard and you meet a lot of people,
Hot high school chicks, too. I actually got paid a commission on drive sales. Ten cents for a can of oil, $1.00 for a belt or hose replacement, $1.50 on a gallon of coolant, $5.00 on a tire, and $10.00 for a tune up.
Made some real money those summers, the hard way. Ten cents at a time.

I know it seems strange, but we are quite sure about it being gas station skimmers because that’s the only thing purchased on trips to visit family eight hours away. One stop for gas and we pack lunch.
I was mad as hell the 2nd time because we tug on the card slot to check after the first time it happened. We also save our receipts so I filed a police report with a photo of the receipt with the pump # (you can do all this with your phone!). They removed the skimmer, but unless they catch someone in the act of attaching it, they have no way of catching them. They are wireless now and transmit the card info remotely.
We pay cash now.
I was mocking the guy who claimed the one time he's ever pumped gas in a car himself, it almost killed him. He didn't explain why but I suspect it was because he's a pussy liberal.
Like I said, liberal Oregonians are a weird bunch.
