Fresh from a record-tying streak of cold, Massachusetts faces more weather misery Thursday: a storm that could bring high winds, near-blizzard conditions, and up to a foot of snow before giving way to another blast of intense cold on the first half of the weekend.
The National Weather Service issued a winter storm watch, effective from late Wednesday night through late Thursday night, warning that damage to trees and power lines is possible. Forecasters say the possibility of power outages is especially worrisome, given the expected return to bitter cold at weeks end.

"Tuesday marked the end of a seven-day stretch when temperatures didnt make it over 20 in Boston, a feat achieved only one other time since records started being kept here in 1872. The other time was a century ago, in the bitter winter of 1917-1918."
Isn’t there a new fancy term for why freezing temperature are caused by global “climate change”?
Al Gore must be in town.
Polar Vortex!
I drove into work today in southern NH @ 12 degrees. That is UP 25 degrees from yesterday morning. I believe the -13 yesterday was the coldest temperature I have ever been in during my 54 years on earth. FYI, I grew up south of Buffalo, NY too.
Does anyone have AL Gore’s phone number? I’d like to order 5000 pounds of GLOBAL WARMING. I wish it would warm UP to the 20’s, not having seen anything over 15 for days.
When I go to the car to go to work, the sound of weeping and wailing is from my poor fozen auto.
I think someone is COLLUDING with the oil companies.

Much to the disappointment of the left, weather changes! Sometimes it’s hot, sometimes cold. Sometimes rain, sometimes snow. Failure to get used to it is a symptom of leftist insanity.
Yes, it was brisk, but I grew up in Wisconsin in the 50s, and I remember -50 degrees at least once. Officially, the town claimed in was only -49, so they didnt have to cancel school, and yeah, I walked to school that day, but there was only one hill between home and the school.
Be that as it may, at nearly 71, this cold isnt not as pleasant as I remember. However, it beats alligators and poisonous snakes.
If the weather isn't absolutely predictable, with summers that aren't too hot and winters that aren't too cold, it's the fault of Americans, and Republicans in particular.
Nice what you can get away with when you own the media.
Someone has to have those extreme low temperatures, so the alarmists will have somewhere else experiencing the balancing opposite nature insists on - giving in one extreme and taking in another.
In Louisiana now and I’ll take those alligators and snakes every day of the week. kinda scared that i have to go to bos on fri
Its all man made climate changes and carbon taxes will fix everything dontchyaknow. Forget about solar activity, global wind patterns and cyclical patterns of the earth rotations and spinning. Regional smog pollution is one thing but puny mankind causing global climate change fat chance. 3/4 of the earth consists of water and the effect of humans on its overall power is tiny.
Great post.
All the demoncrap Boston snowflakes (pun intended) should enjoy the Al Gore global warming weather they're having. Bostonians - go buy another Al Gore book on global warming. That should help make his fake-science a reality and also help pay for his $30K annual utility bill. /s.
You paint with a broad brush .... what would Jesus say.
I’m in central MA. We could get anywhere from 6” to a foot tomorrow.
Yesterday it was 14F. It seemed warm.
I commute daily via ferry from the South bay to Boston. Ferry service is currently suspended because the (newly installed) dock is out of service due to ice damage. Given the weather reports, probably won’t be in service until next week.
It’s been cold out there.
Geez. People aren’t feeling “Weather Misery” around here, it is what it is. Some people are anxious, but there are always people who are anxious about weather, no matter where you go.
Geez, who writes this pap?
Oh, wait...it is the Boston Globe.
I know. This is stupid. I can see inhabitants of some Caribbean island experiencing weather misery, but not people in the Northeast experiencing subzero temps and a foot of snow.
If we get four storms over a week or two, that might be a pain, but we would get over it.
