The idea Trump would not have wanted Moore because he was too Conservative,

I wouldn't even call Moore a conservative. He's a maverick. But Strange was a full on RINO. But the fact is Trump backed Strange 100%, and the night before the primary he threatened that Moore would lose in the general. Sorry, that's a fact.

Hmm, where might Trump have gotten that idea? It was verbatim what McConnell and the GOPe were saying. On some things I think Trump allows others to take the lead. When it comes to state elections where he’s not absolutely sure what direction to go, he is willing to defer.

I don’t have a problem with that at the primary level. I obviously have my own opinion on it, and I think the best man won the primary. I would have liked to have seen him come out more solidly for Moore.

Trump was reticent to back Moore after the allegations were leveled. He had to see how it all played out. He had already been charged with abusing women. He had to be careful.

Toward the end of the campaign for the special election, he did endorse Moore. His endorsement could also have been seen as a rallying cry against Moore, by Leftists.

This wasn’t an easy call and I think Trump did the best he could under the circumstances.

Once again though, you have reverted to trashing Trump.

Nickcarraway, you are not doing yourself any favors here.

.. and the night before the primary he threatened that Moore
would lose in the general. ..

************

President Trump did as you said and he proved to be correct.

snip.

On September 22, President Trump predicted that Roy Moore would likely lose to
his Democrat opponent in the general election. He explained,

I have to say this, and you understand this and just look at the polls. Luther
will definitely win. Roy has a very good chance of not winning in the general
election. It’s all about the general. Don’t forget, we don’t stop here. You have
an election coming up the day this is over. So this is over on Tuesday. On
Wednesday morning, the new race begins. You’ve got to beat a Democrat. Luther
is going to win easily and Roy’s going to have a hard time winning.

end snip
