Actually,... it would be nice to have Moore in the Senate. And we would have had him if McConnell, Ryan, and the whole GOPe hadn’t gone after him tooth and nail.
He lost by around 20,000 votes. A Republican leader announced a write-in about two weeks before the election. That write-in person got over 20,000 votes.
Add in senator Shelby, no funding, no big names other than Trump late in the game to help out, and you have your disaster.
All these entities agreed to cut their lead in the Senate rather than allow Moore to serve.
Strange wasn’t even on the table at the time.
He was a milk-toast RINO, favored by McConnell, Ryan, and the GOPe. What possible help would he have been, another yes-man to the GOPe?
And strongly favored by President Trump.
It wasn’t just one right in who got the votes, everybody from the guy actually asking for votes, to Santa Clause, God, and Nick Saban...Mickey Mouse....
But, the loss by Moore can actually be blamed on the one million registered, so called Republicans who stayed home.
No actually conservatives by the number 600,000 didn’t show up and vote for Moore like they did Trump. That is the bottom line. It was a disaster to have Moore as the candidate and nothing McConnell or other did changed that. However, having Romney lose because he is not perfect will allow another Democrat to win. Eventually we will lose the majority if they follow your plan. We should be close to 60 seats in 2018, but instead we MIGHT get our 52 again. So stupid. And the House? Good grief what a mess that is going to be.
Republican primary voters picked Roy Moore, the only guy who could possibly lose in Alabama. He lost by 20,000 votes in a state that Trump carried by 600,000 votes.
Republican primary voters had best pull their heads out of their asses and stop picking losers.
I agree, but Roy Moore is roundly hated by hundreds of thousands or maybe millions in Alabama, apparently. They’d rather have a Democrat in the Senate representing us than Roy Moore. Apparently, one thing Alabamians can’t stand is someone who is a serious Christian who marries a young bride.
