The French government has vowed a crackdown on urban violence in reaction to the shocking video footage which emerged of a policewoman being attacked by a mob on New Year's Eve.
She was one of two officers attacked by a gang of youths after police were called to a party in the Paris suburb of Champigny-sur-Marne, in an assault President Emmanuel Macron called 'a cowardly and criminal lynching'.
The area of Champigny, some eight miles from the centre of Paris, has become synonymous with Portuguese immigration.
In the late 1960s and early 1970s, Portuguese workers were in demand in the French capital and there was a flood of immigrants.
Interior Minister Gerard Collomb called the attacks against police 'unacceptable', and said violence in Parisian societies 'must be stopped'.
Collomb said reforms were needed to improve lives in 'pauperised, ghettoised' French suburbs, which have long suffered a reputation for violence and poverty.
A third officer was beaten up Monday while trying to inspect a stolen scooter inside a sprawling housing estate in the suburb of Aulnay-sous-Bois.
More than a thousand cars were burned across France on New Year's Eve, a ritual among youths living in deprived high-rise suburbs.
'These are neighbourhoods that must change,' Collomb said, ahead of new pilot schemes in local policing set to begin next month following a large-scale consultation with security forces.

Dealing with the people they are dealing with, the only answer is to hurt them. When they know they can do anything and they will be unharmed; handled with gloves, they will do everything in their power to hurt YOU, knowing nothing can happen to them. There is a reason they are violent. It’s because they are allowed to be violent. There is no penalty. They live in a world where only force exists. If you don’t play by their rules, you lose.
As my sister is fond of saying, you can only be civilized if the people you are dealing with allow it.

Portuguese, hmm? Sure thing. At least the Paris papers haven’t blamed the police officers. Yet.
I saw the videos (there was more than one posted) and while there were a couple of light-skinned people in there, they were obviously mostly Africans. Possibly they were from the Azores or former Portuguese colonies in Africa, but nobody would consider them Portuguese.
However, if this gives the French cover for bringing law and order, that’s fine.
I was in Paris for most of the last couple of weeks and it was wonderful, except for the security you had to go through to get into anything, including department stores, and the soldiers in the streets (although I did feel better knowing they were there).
I was in central Paris, so most of the Muslims I saw were tourists, who were obviously appreciating Paris and probably would have had their hijabs off in an instant if they thought it was safe. That is, except for one very ugly group of people who appeared to be Iraqis or Syrians and walked in a group along the sidewalk pushing French people off into the gutter and even shoving women. And some beggars near the Seine who looked like former ISIS fighters and were holding up signs saying “Syriens”. Not the way to the French hearts and minds, though.

It is hard to have sympathy for them as a nation. How many more innocent people will have to die there before they have the courage to stand up for their way of life?

Portuguese Angola? It was a colony of Portugal. Maybe they used Portuguese citizenship or some kind of colonial privilege to have French authorities process them as Portuguese, back in the day.

Its those mussulmen from the French colony of Algeria masquerading as Portuguese - a very tricky lot, having free entry into France to visit their cousin’s brother’s uncle, a Foreign Legionnaire - now retired, who was stationed in Algeria during the uprisings marrying a local Arab gal, whom he abandoned when she was 6 months into her pregnancy in favor of a black tribal mussulman woman who bore him 6 sons and 3 daughters - now sold off to pay the bills. Tricky.

It time to start actually shooting attacking mobs. Forget tear gas, pepper spray, clubs, water cannons, and tasers....shoot a few of them when they are actually attacking and they'll get the message. I don't advocate such when breaking some windows and stealing (looting), but setting fires and attacking any civilian or LEO is reason for deadly force in my book.
Other than that, rubber bullets for all. Just start spraying the mob once they refuse warnings to cease/desist and continue to move forward...they'll run home to their mommy's basements, dorm rooms, muslim hideaways, and hidden ghetto places. As for collateral damage, the next riot won't include as many wannabes, if any.
Yes, they need to be hurt. They need to learn their actions have penalties or it will never stop. The muslims need to harshly learn that their behavior is unacceptable in their host nations. The BLM types need to understand they won't be allowed to burn down their cities without harsh consequences. And, the idiot college children need a lesson in acceptable ways to use their 1st Amend. rights when protesting or demonstrating.
When the rocks, bottles, other objects are first thrown at the LEO's, time for the commander of the line to announce on the Bullhorn, the next attack will be met with live fire! Same goes with any non-attacking rioter. Next window broken and the front line will open fire with rubber bullets on everyone.
