They stand like surreal monuments in the California scrubland: prototypes of Donald Trump's proposed "big, beautiful" border wall between the US and Mexico.
The eight 30ft high slabs are the first tangible part of the controversial project that the US President says will help solve America's immigration problems.

Hardened steel. Okay this can work, but I wonder about the cost and servicability. Once you harden steel it’s not so workable and weldable as before amirite?

I think I read somewhere that most direct falls from 30 ft. or more onto a hard surface are fatal, perhaps not immediately (which might be worse...)

The hidden electric wires sure are hidden on all of them.

Hope they took into account those ‘suction cup’ attachments! Making the walls slimy would help. I bet helicopters/drones will be available for pleasure lifts soon.

Any design of an unguarded wall will be scalable. The NVA/VC used to get through triple and quintuple layers of ‘German Tape’ (razor wire concertina).

Ocotillo Thats certainly one that could be used, but the one I was referring to was much smaller than that. I dont recall the name, but it was small enough that it could easily be stepped on or brushed against by accident, and it was very difficult to remove the spines. It looked perfect for the job.

I think that you may be referring to Prickly Pear Cactus.
One plant by itself is a pain if you even brush it and they grow so fast I recall the King Ranch down in South Texas would let them form 10-15 foot wide zones to replace fencing for their big ol’ cattle.
...had a kind of funny fringe benefit, too. When the “Fence” started to get too wide, they’d send out a tractor with a Bush Hog to chop up the excess, and those great big ol’ cows would follow that tractor so they could eat up the inside of the leaves after they got busted up.
(Okay, so now Jose’s going to bust through the Wall with the Bush Hog on his John Deere. /sarc)

31' foot ladder? You ever been 31' feet off the ground on a freaking ladder? ☺
Tell me, if there are 28 of them, do they all sit on top of the wall until the 28th one gets on top and then pull the ladder up to use for the other side?
