The embattled National Football League announced its decision to cancel this weeks edition of Sunday Night Football on Tuesday; hoping to avoid a ratings bloodbath as a less-than-stellar line-up and New Years Eve festivities would have caused the NFL to reach embarrassing new lows.
The league opted to call-off the game before announcing which teams were scheduled to compete, adding the match-up wouldnt have playoff implications and would likely cost the already troubled organization millions of dollars.
We felt that both from a competitive standpoint and from a fan perspective, the most fair thing to do is to schedule all Week 17 games in either the 1 p.m. or 4:25 p.m. windows, said a spokesperson for the NFL.
The National Football League is struggling to wrap up its disastrous 2017 season, with millions of fans tuning out or staying home following months of player protests.
Industry insiders predict the demonstrations have cost the NFL over $500 million.
President Trump thrust the issue into the national spotlight earlier this year, calling for a national boycott of the NFL until officials and owners clamp-down on their athletes taking a knee during the performance of the Star-Spangled Banner.

Kneeling defines it!

Okay, here goes:
More better!
Good one ... I’ll counter with go back to 14 games a year with 26 teams and a demographic that more closely resembles that of the nation ... just like my 1972 Dolphins!

Last TV I watched was Sarah Palin's VP acceptance speech in 2008.
Why did I stop? I got tired of it. Seemed like a waste of time. Still does, now maybe more so. Don't miss it. I'd rather get my news by reading articles on the Internet than watching a newsreader on TV. I suppose you could say my TV habit got replaced by my FR habit :)

It’s after Christmas... and they haven’t scheduled the teams for that game yet. That about says it all.
No, I think the players taking a knee and disrespecting the country thrusted it into the national spotlight. Trump gave them the attention they were hoping for. The boycott movement was already in place when DJT spoke to it.
And they aren’t afraid of the New Year’s Day “monday night football” from tanking? or was it already canceled for college bowl games?
Naw They should show rudolph’s shiny new year
Too funny, and really historic seeing how hard they have fallen. I emailed the NFL and my team many times saying how displeased I was with the SJW’s un-American commie antics and what does the commie leadership of the NFL do???
They double-down on the SJW commie causes and give them millions of dollars towards those commie causes. Screw the NFL. While I still like pro football, I am ready for a whole new league who stays out of un-American garbage like this.

I dont feel sorry for them at all.
Wonder how a Boycott Super Bowl will work out? Can they avoid it at this point?
Makes sense to me. Who the hell wants to work New Year’s Eve?
Wont watch the Super Bowl. I’ll see the highlights but give these pukes a rating point for the entire game? NOPE.
That would have been a network call, but your point is valid
I support it.
Will the kneelers kneel during the Superbowl?
I’ve never bought an NFL ticket, but many college football tickets say “time (maybe even date) TBA).” So if TV wants to schedule the game at a certain time, they do.
My guess is that they pick a certain game for the Sunday night matchup - apparently less than a week before the game. In this case, they’ve scheduled all the games with playoff implications at 4:25 on Sunday, and cancelled the Sunday night game.
