A woman was killed and her husband seriously injured after a vicious mauling by two pit bulls on Christmas Eve in a Kentucky coal town. Investigators said the husband managed to shoot the dogs afterwards, killing one of them...a caller had reported his brother and sister-in-law were attacked by two of their neighbor’s dogs, WLEX-TV reported.

If you had done even the tiniest bit of research we would be talking about the prevalence of this breed amongst the more irresponsible, criminal and violent elements of society rather than your dismissal of a position based on your emotional response.

More than 30 years ago, I heard a man interviewed about the dog that all the wanna be bad a@@ess of the time owned, the Doberman Pinscher.

He spiel was:
1. This is the dog that all the guys on the (lower socioeconomic) side of town, who go to bars looking to find some dog owner who wants to fight dogs, owns.
2. Ten (which is to say 40, now) years ago those guys owned German Sheperds.
3. The problem is the guys who own them, not the breed.
4. These guys breed from dogs who, because of their aggressiveness, no responsible breeder would breed from, then maltreat them to make them even more aggressive.

I think that Doberman breeder was correct. But Pit Bulls have, in my opinion, been largely bred by the sort of chap the Breeder described, for at least the last 25 years. For the last decade or so, near me, Boxers have given Pit Bulls a run for their money, but Pit Bulls remain the dog of choice for the wanna be bad a@@ crowd.

The most common Pit Bull blood lines may have latent good qualities. There may well be Pit Bull blood lines that are still true to the qualities that led to the breed being created. But if those blood lines still exist, they are not predominant in the average Pit Bull of today, just as the average Poodle is not, today, a decent, or better, gun dog, bred to retrieve ducks and quail.

The dog he referenced in the video was hunting and killing. Pits do that. There’s a court case where a child walked by a gate and 3 or 4 pits congregated on the other side as he walked by, they reached under the fence and grabbed his legs and pulled him under (small kid) and started by evicerating him (disembowled, it was hard on everyone in the court to watch that) before eating him.

I’ve watched plenty of pit video as they run up, no barking, tail wagging, head loose and bobbing, until they get their jaws latched on to a thigh or face and then they go for the kill. There’s a video of a pit running through a traffic intersection, tail wagging while he scans for his prey, he sees a small child and bounces right over her and seizes her and playfully begins to rip her apart. The bystanders were in shock. No warning. That’s the problem, pits don’t warn and people aren’t socialized to kill a dog wagging its tail on approach. That no-warn thing was bred into them - it made them lethal fighters among other dogs. So that cell phone image wasn’t large enough to show what the statistics prove - pits enjoy hunting people and other dogs, and pits enjoy ripping them apart.

That’s the problem - they don’t bark or snarl. They look neutral while wagging their tail on approach. Sometimes they run on approach and that hints at their target but they are bred not to warn before attacking.

One man led his pit down the sidewalk and without warning, the dog simply latched onto the thigh of someone else on the street and commenced to do damage. Hard to stop bleed out when the femoral artery is involved.

Pit mixes are documented in excessive amounts of violence - it’s genetic so mixes don’t help.

“If a family wants a pet dog but can’t afford the crazy prices they charge for what once were common dogs they have little choice but to get a pit bull...That’s all that’s available...People can’t give them away fast enough”

That’s BS. There are plenty of dogs at any local shelter that are not pit bull/mix.

At my local shelter they currently have 49 dogs for adoption. 8 of them are listed as bulldog or put bull/mix.

The website www.occupymaulstreet.com gives a daily news perusal of the latest national and international dog maulings and deaths. All breeds (most are pitbull-type molosser breeds bred to fight) and also pet and livestock attacks.

There used to be another website called pitbulldeaths.com, but it looks like the owner allowed it to go dormant last year and now it is just nonsense.

Merritt Clifton of www.animals24-7.org has been detailing this subject for 30 years and has an extensive and up-to-date database of dog maulings and deaths broken down by breed, year, age and sex of victims, and state.

Pits are known to attack with no prior warning or history of shown aggression. Training children to read dog behavior won’t work because pits have had standard aggressive dog behavior bred out of them so they “surprise attack” often without snarling, barking, growling etc. There are videos just like the one on this thread where the pit bounces up wagging its tail before it starts to kill. Dogs do know how to play with one another and with people and it doesn’t involve stripping flesh or grabbing and shaking like a rag doll. That pit knew it was trying to sever limbs and enjoyed it so much that it wags its tail while doing so. Put the bystanders into a state of shock.
Here’s an example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EBrFAbLOv4A

Searching Youtube for “pitbull attacks little girl” renders too many gory results to mention.

Not necessary to rely on news reports. Documented maimings, killings on dogsbite.org. Stats prove pits kill more people than all other breeds combined, cause more serious injury requiring surgery and recovery.

SLAY RIDE
Just hear those dog chains jingling
Muscles tingling too
Come on, it’s lovely weather
For a slaying together with you
Outside it’s ripe for mauling
Our owners calling, “Yoo hoo”
Come on, it’s lovely weather
For a slaying together with you

Pittie up, pittie up, pittie up, Let’s go
Let’s give ‘em a show
We’re playing in a reddening of snow
Pittie up, pittie up, pittie up
It’s grand, just gripping your hand
Our jaws are too strong for a Kong
We far prefer guts and glands!

Our teeth are nice and rosy
And comfy cozy are we
We’re snarled up together
Like two canine aggressors should be
Let’s take that road before us
And rigor mortis a few
Come on, it’s lovely weather
For a slaying together with you

There’s a children’s pony
At the home of Farmer Gray
It’ll be the perfect ending of a perfect day
We’ll be swinging our jaws
We love to cling without a single stop
At the farmer’s place, we’ll just watch
The leg bones pop, Pop! Pop! Pop!

There’s a happy feeling
Nothing in the world can buy
While they pass around excuses
For the bandaged thighs
It’ll nearly be like the fighting pit
From which our name derives
These wonderful things are the things
We remember all through our lives!

.it’s likely the sheer numbers of these dogs that makes their attacks top the chart...

_____________________________________________________

There’s no excuse for the bloodshed and fatalities caused by pits.

From dogsbite.org:

“Our data revealed that pit bull breeds were more than 2.5 times as likely as other breeds to bite in multiple anatomical locations.”

For 2016, “ pit bulls contributed to 71% (22) of these deaths. Pit bulls make up about 6% of the total U.S. dog population.”

“Together, pit bulls (22) and rottweilers (2), the second most lethal dog breed, accounted for 77% of the total recorded deaths in 2016. This same combination also accounted for 76% of all fatal attacks during the 12-year period of 2005 to 2016”

There are pages and pages of documented deaths, maimings etc. It’s pit bulls that are the problem - not a bad rap or any other distortion. It’s these dogs which were bred to kill and then taken into homes and passed off as pets...until they do what they were bred to do.

Sad that you would consider keeping “pets” that you refer to as a “pack” like wolves. Your entire post is an example of the human part of the problem. You feel domestic pets must be taught that you dominate...and then a dog like those gets out of its enclosure and goes hunting. I have read and watched so many accounts on video/text etc. What you describe is an exotic animal (wild) that can be handled if kept in certain enclosures for wild animal security and handled by “keepers”.

Actually it’s not the media. There’s plenty of names, dates, details of victims, injuries, fatalities, dog breeds and legal issues resulting from pit bull attacks that prove that type of dog kills more people than all other types of dogs. The documentation goes back years and is available in several locations. Here’s one place you kind track down facts that are often ignored by media:
dogsbite.org

Wow. True and it rhymes. Watched an account of a 40lb pit killing a horse. The dog bled it to death while running it to death. So the farmer’s pony was spot on as well.

SUCCESS in the War on [FAKE] Service Pit bulls
Posted on May 19, 2014 by MrMAD
Personal Stories of Dog VictimsHow to Get Rid of Fake Service Dogs – For Good.

Below you find another real story sent by a determined mom who succeed in getting a fake service pit bull dog evicted from their apartment complex, not because the mauler was Not a real service dog but due to the many lease violations by the owners (criminals will always be criminals). Another personal story about what victims are facing, and doing back, in this today’s dog infested world.

Hello,

I have been fighting the idiot in my building that went and got a pit bull, and brought it into our apartments by lying about it being a service dog. Our apartments ban dogs over #30 [pounds]. When I started, there were 3 of these assholes owning a total of 4 pit bulls, and their maulers were always seen outside, breaking rules and such.

I want to share my successes, to date, to inspire others.

All of these grippers showed up within a few weeks of each other. It was like one day, a safe place for my little kids to play, the next day, 4 grippers are surrounding my apartment, and the playground.

At first I was scared, angry, and depressed. The manager said his hands were tied because they were all “service/therapy” dogs, both are legally protected in this state. He lives here too and hated it, and corporate was upset, but they had little recourse. No one was sure what to do, and the general consensus was that there would be a tragedy before the laws were changed.

I decided to fight back instead of just complaining. Here is where I am at…

Mauler owner #1– this guy and his gripper moved out about 3 weeks after I stepped up my campaign to rid the complex of these frauds. This was a “get out or we will evict you” situation.

How? LEASE VIOLATIONS– record every single one you see, and get as many people to complain as you can.

Explanation- I got enough people to complain about his pit attacking another dog (it wasn’t hurt), and that was enough to get him pushed out, even though his mauler was a “emotional support/therapy dog”. All pets must follow the rules, regardless of their status, so learn what those rules are and get a camera and pen.

Mauler Owner #2– This owner will be moving out with his precious gripper, in 2 months, when his contract is up. Management will not be renewing it. Any more complaints, he will be out even sooner. He no longer proudly struts his dog onto the playground, nor ever lets it off leash, even to pee.

How? COMPLAINTS, LEASE VIOLATIONS, NOTIFICATION OF FRAUD

Complaints- Write them up. Every. Last. Annoyance. Get your neighbors to do the same. The owner then knows people are watching, and they do not know who, as long as you haven’t made it obvious to them you are fighting them (I did).

Violations- Off leash? Barking? Leaving poop? Attacking? These (and more) are violations. This will get the dog, the person, or both, evicted if they aren’t followed.

Fraud- The management was unaware that the “Service Dog” papers he presented were simply bought off of the web. When they learned, they decided that in addition to the complaints, this meant they would not renew this renters contract (too late to evict for this reason).

What I did- I sent the management a list of all of the web sites that sell these service dog papers. I got it from a legit, disabled persons advocacy group. I also sent a few articles explaining this fraud.

Then, I contacted the business that sold this neighbor his papers. I sent them an email telling them their papers enabled a man to move a dangerous dog into apartments where they are banned. I let them know that I would be sure to name their name if anything happens because of this dog.

They sent me a nice little letter to give the management, detailing how the papers they sell do NOT make a dog a legal service dog. That they are just papers.

***I gave this to management, and now they will deny anyone presenting with papers from these web sites, and will look into other papers instead of just taking them all on face value.***

With this guy, they waived the right to kick him out over the fraud, because it was discovered too late, after they took rent a few times. No new people will get to use this lie.

Mauler owner #3– I haven’t seen either of their 2 grippers for 2 months; even though I can see their door, and they ought to be big dogs now. The mom said “They want to evict us!!!”, and ever since then, I never see them at all. No longer outside unleashed, not running on the playground, not in the parking lot.

How? COMPLAINTS, LEASE VIOLATIONS

Explanation- Persistent complaints to landlord of every little thing they do wrong, comments made directly to the mom and the kids about the dogs being unwanted here, and a few violations made these owners realize they were not appreciated. They had been parading their maulers proudly, on the playground, and letting them play unleashed. We didn’t like this, and made sure everyone knew.

I can only assume they still own them, but have no idea when they walk them (and I am home all day as a SHAM). Their lease won’t be renewed either, even though their one gripper is not fraud (the other is)- These geniuses got 2 maulers for their mentally ill 9 year old child. I am sure that is not what the therapist meant when they said a dog might be calming….

And I just got started.

This has worked because management cares, and will actually step up. It hasn’t been as fast as I would have liked, but at least it is moving in the right direction. t didn’t have to remind them about the payouts for attack lawsuits, or contact their insurance, or the other things I could have done.

I wrote up a list of what to do to get maulers out, I will send that next.

FIGHT THE MENACE

Sincerely,

Another warrior in the battle

The above is a real event by a person negatively affected by current dog epidemic, a series that we are going to regularly publish here at NO Dogs, Please! as Personal Stories from Victims of Dogs.

Why is multiple dogs an issue?

Obviously it's much harder to control two strong animals than one. I've seen a teenage girl walking two pits on a leash, and I know damned well she couldn't stop one of them if it bolted, let alone two. Just as important, all canines are pack hunters. They are much more likely to attack as part of a pack.
