Selection of Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) as the ranking Democrat on the Judiciary Committee was the clearest sign yet of how seriously House Democrats consider the possibility of a full-blown constitutional showdown with Trump.
Nadler anchored his candidacy for his new position, vacated with the resignation of Rep. John Conyers Jr. (D-Mich.), on the 13 years he has spent as chairman or ranking Democrat on the panels Constitution subcommittee and, more recently, its courts subcommittee.
He also politely reminded Democrats in recent days of his efforts, beginning in the mid-1980s, to impede Trumps efforts to develop portions of New Yorks Upper West Side.
There is nobody better prepared, if the president messes around with the Constitution, than Jerry Nadler, Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) said.
Nadler had the backing of most of New Yorks 18 Democratic lawmakers, as well as many members of the Congressional Black Caucus.
After a failed 1985 mayoral bid, Nadler won his House seat in 1992 and became a force on the Judiciary Committee, particularly as a top defender in 1998 of President Bill Clinton during his impeachment hearings.
History and the precedents alike show that impeachment is not a punishment for crimes but a means to protect our constitutional system, he said then in his opening statement during the committees proceedings. And it was certainly not meant to be a means to punish a president for personal wrongdoing not related to his office.
Nadler refused to attend Trumps inauguration, saying Trumps actions inflaming racial tensions made him not legitimate as president.
By May, after the firing of James B. Comey as FBI director, Nadler told CNN that there might be a very strong case for obstruction-of-justice charges against Trump.

The senate would need to convict and this is not going to happen, but you only need a simple majority in the house to bring the articles of impeachment. And while they need evidence of high crimes and misdemeanors, don’t look for a lack of evidence to slow down the dems. They are nearly apoplectic as it is.
Pubbies should ready their own impeachments of Judges, Congress...etc.
Hey! Let’s not go attacking fat New Yorkers!
(Trump and I aren’t slobs, but still...)
I think Nadler has lost a bunch of weight. May have gained some back but a year or so ago he was a pretty normal size.
Reminding everyone:
Impeachment does not mean removal from office.
Clinton lowered the bar for the administration branch:
1. You can have (proven) extramarital sex in the oval office and stay.
2. You can be impeached and stay.
3. You can be disbarred and stay.
Throw this in their faces.
You can’t spell ‘Nadler’ without ‘Nad’. Coincidence?
Then if a majority vote is successful, then it goes to the Senate for a trial, which you need two thirds majority for conviction and then thrown out of office.
The courts wouldn't and shouldn't be involved at all.
Get in my belly!
Their resistance is over. Trump won.
No grounds.

Now back to these Seditionist Rats...
>>>The Washington Post Nazi traitors should worry more about getting dragged into the street and hanged from a lamppost<<<
Allow me to paraphrase a line from the Movie Jaws regarding Nadler, “we need a bigger Lamppost”.
4. You can commit Perjury and stay.
I wonder if the asshat realizes that if "messing with the Constitution" were the standard, Trump would be in the WH and maybe 2 folks would be left in each House.....
He was known as the Waddler in the NYS Assembly.
He, like Schumer, has been sucking at the teet of the taxpayers since 1977.
A truly worthless POS.
Former Sen. Al D’Amato called Nadler “The Waddler” all the time.
Thanks for the update.
200 pounds looks like to me
The principal threat of impeachment comes from Republicans.
