Constitutional attorney shreds Sally Yates: You dont order an entire dept not to assist sitting president [ full title]
A legal scholar and Constitutional attorney slammed former acting Attorney General Sally Yates for her unprecedented decision to defy President Trumps executive order on travel and immigration.
Jonathan Turley reacted to Yates opinion piece published by USA Today on Tuesday in which she added her own side notes to the Constitutions preamble.
I much prefer the original, Turley
...
Yates was fired in January by the incoming president after she ordered the entire Justice Department to not defend Trumps travel ban. Though she did not name Trump in her op-ed, Yates has continued to be an outspoken critic of the president.
The question really is whether she should be the messenger of this particular message, Turley said, citing Yates own calls for the department to remain apolitical.
Turley was highly critical of Yates for the decision that led to her firing.
Well, the action that she took I thought, was unwarranted. I was very critical of it, the George Washington University Law professor said. Its unprecedented for an acting attorney general or attorney general to order the entire agency to stand down and not assist a president.

The swamp creatures despise the American people.
Where is hell does a person like this come from??? Your so “self important” you think you can just ignore the commander and Chief’s order. She should be in jail ....
Telling people to ignore direct orders from POTUS is insubordination....a firing offense
one word : Sedition
It is to be emphasized that the USSC upheld President Trump and denied notions of Yates and her ilk.
“Sedition” is correct
She thought the travel ban to be unconstitutional. A unanimous SCOTUS - including the liberal justices - found otherwise. She should therefore take the hint and just go away. And she should have resigned rather than make that directive to the DOJ. It was a political action, plain and simple.
Maybe we need to tighten up the Standards just a little for Officers of the Court. In a Sane world, The BAR Association would have have Permanently Disbarred her Immediately for these actions. Nobody that behaves like this should EVER be “Allowed” to be an “Officer of the Court”
Of course it was. Obamatard made sure to place a lot of his minions and made sure “landmines” were in place for Trump. I do agree its hard to find replacements to work for a bloated govt.
Associate Deputy Attorney General Bruce G Ohrs former boss was Sally Yates, Deputy Attorney General... Sally Yates boss was Loretta Lynch.
“In a Sane world, The BAR Association would have have Permanently Disbarred her Immediately for these actions.”
Yeah, but don’t look to the “BAR Association” today to be an unbiased arbiter. They are simply another RAT-run NGO that loved what Sally Yates did.
We have two FBI agents texting one another, one of which is having an extramarital affair with the other, talking about insurance against a Trump presidency. That text between these two agents was delivered on August 15, 2016.
Andrew Weissmann, Special Counsel Robert Muellers top lieutenant, voicing praise for then-acting Attorney General Sally Yates for refusing to enact President Trumps executive order on immigration, which got her fired.
“Sedition” needs to be our rallying cry, on this whole seditious Obama DOJ scheme. Needs to bubble up from us.
“Team Sedition” is what I call the lot of them.
Comey.
McCabe.
Yates.
Strzok.
Ohr and Ohr.
Priestap (?).
LYNCH.
Team Sedition!!!
sure you do, if your only concern is “Resist”.
Yates thinks she can unilaterally amend the Constitution. There is no end to the hubris of these people.
Washington DC is absolutely full of them. I know, I have worked there. They are usually intelligent people, who have also enjoyed the blessings of America more than most, and have risen in their apparatchik jobs in the government. They therefore become very arrogant and narcissistic. They lose humility, perspective and simply believe they are smarter and more virtuous than the rest of America.
The preamble is not a legally binding part of the USC — it lays out the principles for it and the moral framework but is not law (despite the fact liberals think “promote the general welfare” is the entirety of both the Preamble and the USC).
Here is her version (hold your nose and don’t read on an empty stomach). As was said by Turly I will stick to the original.
This is NOT a “Constitutional scholar.” This is a useful idiot with a law degree she probably slept into when she was younger and only needed 3 beers:
“We the people of the United States (we are a democratic republic, not a dictatorship) in order to form a more perfect union (we are a work in progress dedicated to a noble pursuit) establish justice (we revere justice as the cornerstone of our democracy) insure domestic tranquility (we prize unity and peace, not divisiveness and discord), provide for the common defense (we should never give any foreign adversary reason to question our solidarity) promote the general welfare (we care about one another; compassion and decency matter) and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity (we have a responsibility to protect not just our own generation, but future ones as well).”
Nellie Ohr, worked with Steele on Fusions anti-Trump research. She is the wife of Bruce Ohr, then the deputy associate attorney general the top subordinate of Sally Yates, then Obamas deputy attorney general (later acting AG)... Ohr was a direct pipeline to Yates.
