Drone finds mysterious ancient structure at Israeli military training ground
Archaeologists have used a drone to locate a mysterious ancient structure in the heart of an Israeli military training area.
The 2,200-year-old structure, which may be a temple or palace from the ancient Idumean culture, was excavated by experts from the Israel Antiquities Authority and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. The structure dates back to the Hellenistic period, when Greek influences were strong in the region.
An altar adorned with the image of a bull was found inside the structure at Horvat Amuda, in the Lachish region of Israel. The Idumeans were a Semitic people originating in southern Jordan who settled in the Judean foothills. Archaeologists believe that the altar may have been dismantled during the areas conquest by the Hasmonean dynasty during the second century B.C.

The carving on the stone looks like it could be of Samson, pulling the pillars down.
It is interesting that for all of the caterwauling the Arabs and the left do about “Palestine”, with all of the archeology digs going on in Israel, they never seem to find any Arab artifacts. Lots of Biblical, Roman, and Jewish ones though...
Pre-islamic islam, according to their screwed up machinations.
Thanks SJackson.
It does, but I think it’s a bull head on top. The faithful would not have created an image of any man.
I totally saw the figure pushing on the upper level. It took me quite awhile to interpret it as a bull.
Could have been a temple to Mithras—They used a bull in their symbols. Once a popular Religion in the Roman Empire, They believed in two gods—one good and one bad, they were locked in combat until the end of time when Good will win out and a new age will come to the world.
Good. Bad. I'm the guy with the gun.
