A U.S. judge has declared a mistrial in the case against a Nevada rancher accused of leading a 2014 armed standoff with federal agents in a cattle grazing dispute.
Chief U.S. District Judge Gloria Navarro dismissed the jury Wednesday and faulted prosecutors for what she called “constitutional due-process violations” and failing to properly turn over evidence to the defense.
The decision in the case against Cliven Bundy, two of his sons and another man is the latest in a string of failed prosecutions in Nevada and Oregon against those who have opposed federal control of vast swaths of land in the American West...

Jeff Sessions praised the lead prosecutor for his leadership in the case back in July when Sessions visited Vegas.
When the teargas round hit the truck, it sounded just like they were being shot at.

Many reasons for this fiasco. Judge Navarro was in on the plan until the Defense turned up evidence which was withheld. At that point she had to start CYA. There is also the issue of their being taped conversations between clients & lawyers. That is an absolute “NO NO”. Bundys et al should be getting a huge civil settlement. Problem is the disputed evidence dies with the decision.
Sessions do your job. Stop this travesty.

Navarro set a retrial date for Feb. 26, 2018, but whether a new trial will actually
happen is uncertain. Acting US Attorney Steven Myhre said prosecutors have yet to
decide whether to pursue the case, and even if they do, the judge will hear defense
arguments Jan. 8 on whether to dismiss the case.

Harry Reid is what we call a “jack-Mormon,” or a Mormon in name only when it can advance his political career.
One does not have to be a Mormon to live in Nevada, FYI, but if a person lives in NV, one can’t help but understand the politics, including those with deep roots.
Don’t forget: Harry Reid grew up in Searchlight, NV, and walked 20 miles a day to school and back — uphill both ways.
