Once again echoing the dinner conversations of a growing number of American households around the country, Representative Trey Gowdy (R-SC) ripped into FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe on Fox News regarding text messages released earlier this week between Agent Peter Strzok and lawyer Lisa Page that revealed an FBI plot, allegedly hatched in McCabe’s office, to prevent a Trump presidency at all costs. Among other things, Gowdy said he would be somewhat shocked if McCabe was still an employee of the FBI “by this time next week.”
“I’m still trying to figure out why 3 FBI agents are discussing politics in the Deputy Director’s office because you’re not supposed to discuss politics on Federal ground. And FBI agents aren’t supposed to engage in politics for Hatch Act reasons.”

Gowdy, can legally do nothing, and he’s attacked for not doing the job that Donald refuses to do.

Gregg Jarrett: Did the FBI and the Justice Department, plot to clear Hillary Clinton, bring down Trump?
There is strong circumstantial evidence that an insidious plot unprecedented in American history was hatched within the FBI and the Obama Justice Department to help elect Hillary Clinton and defeat Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential election.
And when this apparent effort to improperly influence the election did not succeed, the suspected conspirators appear to have employed a fraudulent investigation of President Trump in an attempt to undo the election results and remove him as president.
Such a Machiavellian scheme would move well beyond what is known as the “deep state,” a popular reference to government employees who organize in secret to impose their own political views on government policy in defiance of democratically elected leadership.
However, this apparent plot to keep Trump from becoming president and to weaken and potentially pave the way for his impeachment with a prolonged politically motivated investigation – if proven – would constitute something far more nefarious and dangerous.
Such a plot would show that partisans within the FBI and the Justice Department, driven by personal animus and a sense of political righteousness, surreptitiously conspired to subvert electoral democracy itself in our country.
As of now, we have no proof beyond a reasonable doubt of such a plot. But we have very strong circumstantial evidence.

You are correct; that is just about ALL that he is legally able to do in this regard under the US Constitution.
Trump, on the other hand, can order investigations, appoint special counsels, and END ALL of the stonewalling literally in minutes.
The DOJ and FBI and all the stonewallers serve at his pleasure and he has plenary control over their agencies, and he can order them to come clean and he can fire them in seconds.
He’s a prosecutor, does he have a case that will justify firing him? Until they do, all that will happen is McCabe will end up pocketing a big chunk of our money for wrongful termination.
It will happen soon enough, and will be done the right way, after the IG report is issued.

Presidents get in trouble for THE EXACT AND PRECISE opposite; they get in trouble for trying to hide things.
I love Gowdy. If he were prosecuting me, I’d be so screwed.

Gowdy is a master at articulating thought and reason and loves law. He nails them and the Committee must vote to refer them to the Justice Department.
That’s the extent of Gowdy’s influence, but gang slander of Trey is so much easier than bothering with facts and Gowdy’s limitations.

It’s this DOJ Inspector General who’s been QUIETLY doing his work in the background since January while EVERYBODY focused on Mueller.

I LOVE the people here who insist that DJT has NO authority WHATSOEVER to order his own DOJ and/or FBI to stop stonewalling, or to do ANYTHING for that matter.
The popular view around here is that Gowdy has ALL of the power to have Hillary and lerner hanged tomorrow, but DJT has NO AUTHORITY AT ALL.
gowdy could do something by changing old boy rules that limit public exposure to political inquisitions.
Trey is all talk no action, Foghorn Leghorn personified. Wake me up when Trey actually does something.
I’m no fan of Gowdy but what would suggest he do? The Deep State is still hiding behind the unreleased IG report. Once that is out we will have a better idea where Congress will head.

Rosenstein was clearly evasive in his testimony so you can stop sunshine pumping. He’s following the standard Democrat crisis plan: delay, delay, delay. Meanwhile, Mueller creates facts on the ground and the actual Democrat crimes become “old news”.
Glad you posted that link, Thibodeaux. The source has been solid and has detailed what my gut has sensed for several months. There has to be good reason for Trump and Sessions to be so calm and confident, and for their enemies to be so panicked and unhinged. Like the devil himself, they know they have but a short time.
