The final Republican tax-reform bill unveiled Friday repeals ObamaCares individual insurance mandate, leaving the GOP poised to blow a significant hole in the health-care law next week.
The change, which takes effect in 2019, removes one of the least popular parts of ObamaCare, but one that many experts warn is necessary to make the law function smoothly.
Without a mandate, there is less incentive for healthy people to enroll and balance out the costs of the sick. That is expected to lead to premium increases and could lead insurers to drop out of markets, potentially leaving some areas of the country with no coverage options.
Republicans say repeal of the mandate is a form of tax relief, because it lifts a penalty on people who decide not to buy coverage.

2019? Darn......
Does the bill really repeal it, or does it simply reduce the penalty to zero?
This is just flat out nutty reporting. The law itself has and is doing those very things on a very widespread basis. It appears the media is setting it up so that the serious damage the law itself has done to the health insurance and healthcare markets is really the fault of the GOP passing a repeal of the individual mandate. More fake news.
I figured the reason for rushing this was to kill the mandate for 2018. This sucks.
Zero must be livid. Having apoplectic fits in between hits of cocaine. His “legacy” is sunsetting, and he will soon be a footnote in history books. Good riddance.
We cannot legally rob healhy people if we dont have a law that says we can.
Man 150 years ago they would have all hung this guy then burned him.
They wont report that untilthe mandage is gone. They want to blame all this on the mandate going away. They are libtard media, its what they do.
Listen you people here really need more evidence that the GOP is not working with Trump??
We have to take what we can until we get these bastards out, but then again, if we put others in office that say “we’re for repeal” how do we believe them when the ones that are in now ran on the same thing and then did an about face and didn’t repeal it?
“The change, which takes effect in 2019”
Which means they didn’t really do it.
Exactly, if the Rats take Congress, it goes bye-bye.
111Excellent!!!!!
2019? Failures and cowards
how does healthy people balance out the costs for the sick???.......OOHH, I get it...they are forced to pay for something they do Not use.
Haha so The Hill thinks that Obamacare is “functioning smoothly.” As long as Uncle Sap keeps the subsidies coming, they’ll have welfare class taking advantage of it, but when that dries up, it’s dead.
All the rate quotes for 2018 are done, since enrollment ended today. I don’t think they could raise premiums until then to make up for fewer enrollees.
Republicans: “If you don’t want to pay the mandate then vote for me in 2018!”
2019...so they can use it in their (re)election campaigns, then pull out the rug in ‘18.
And still, I bet, we’ll hear, “It’s the *best* we were gonna get. We’ve got to put MORE (C|R) in office.”.
Because, a majority wasn’t nearly enough the LAST time...or time before, or time before THAT, or...
“Zero must be livid. Having apoplectic fits in between hits of cocaine. His legacy is sunsetting, and he will soon be a footnote in history books. Good riddance.”
Some filthy judge will say congress can’t pass laws.
