President Trump has long denied claims by several women who say he sexually harassed or assaulted them, but those denials are wearing thin in the eyes of the news media now that similar accusations have ended careers of several high-profile men in politics.
Liberal feminist writer Lindy West wrote Wednesday in the New York Times that it is time for everyone to plainly accept that, Yes, President Donald Trump has sexually harassed women.
I am so tired of participating in the collective national farce that things happening right in front of our eyes might not really be happening, she wrote. That we do not already know the truth about what our president and the nation he rules think about women. We know. Anyone who says he doesnt know is lying.
Nowhere in Wests piece is it mentioned that Trump has repeatedly refuted his accusers.
Likewise, Times columnist Gail Collins wrote Wednesday that its time to focus on the Donald Trump sleaziness sagas that the nation didnt deal with in 2016.
After Sen. Al Franken, D-Minn., announced he will soon resign amid sexual misconduct allegations last week, Robert Kuttner, co-founder and editor of the left-leaning American Prospect magazine, wrote that instead of turning on one of their own, Democrats and feminists and all decent people should be intensifying the pressure for a full investigation into Trump, who Kuttner referred to as Groper-in-Chief.
In addition to Franken, Democratic Rep. John Conyers and Republican Reps. Blake Farenthold and Trent Franks have also announced their resignations in recent weeks, after facing claims of inappropriate sexual behavior.
Though Franken in his resignation announcement denied he had done anything wrong, he still said he intended to leave his seat.
Trump was accused by multiple women ahead of the 2016 election but denied all of the allegations and went on to win the race, even winning white women voters by 10 points over Democrat Hillary Clinton.
As other figures have had to face their own accusers, and as Trumps accusers have resurfaced in public to retell their stories, Democrats have renewed their criticism targeting Trump, even calling on him to resign. Some in the media have said the same.
[I]ts not that we didnt hear Trumps accusers, or even that we didnt believe them, New Yorker writer Jia Tolentino said last month. We knew that they werent lying, and we elected him anyway. Our response when victims speak up now has to be shaped by the magnitude of that failure.
New York magazine's Margaret Hartmann asked in November (with an updated version of the article on Dec. 12), What happened to the 19 women who accused Trump of sexual misconduct?
The story noted the dozens of other famous men accused of sexual impropriety and said that in light of those, the allegations against Trump seem grossly overlooked.
Steve Bannon has no doubts about the media’s sexual misconduct.
The trouble with our Liberal friends is not that they’re ignorant; it’s just that they know so much that isn’t so.
Quote taken from Ronald Reagan.
Being a man myself, and having rubbed shoulders with a number of highly successful men, I have no doubt of his sexual misconduct. It comes with the territory. And this even includes “overtly” Christian leaders.
But since we only get to choose our leaders from living, breathing, flawed human beings, we’re kinda stuck. So it becomes a non-issue except in “special” cases. e.g. Wiener or Weinstien. This is why nobody really talked about it at the time regarding JFK, not to mention a host of others.
Same ass hats who defended President B.J. For much more egregious and adjudicated illegalities.
I keep thinking about how the media protected WJC. The media has lost the moral authority to criticize.
I don’t know... All of this has caused me to reflect on my past.
I haven’t dated in almost 50 years, but I seem to remember getting slapped a lot when I did.
Oh well, times change I guess.
In he created climate we have now, just going out with a woman and being a guy cold get you in trouble.
Time to stop this nonsense. I really do not want to hear about anything that happened years ago and wasn’t acted upon at the time.
But the media has doubts about Hillary using an illegal server and being “grossly negligent” with classified material. They have doubts she could have done anything to prevent Benghazi murders though a mountain of evidence is to the contrary. They have no doubts about her physical and mental ability to lead the nation despite video footage available.
These so-called allegations were fully aired during the campaign and the voters overwhelmingly elected Trump anyway. They cant be brought up again. Double jeopardy.
The Media had no doubts about the Russian Collusion either.
I bet Fusion GPS has the goods too.
I was reading up on a suit by Planned Parenthood against the undercover videos. Guess who they hired to craft their Defense research...None other than Fusion GPS.
What’s sad is the chill these sexcapades will cast on normal courtship routines. I suspect that is a side effect desired by the left though.
A man in a position to hire employees would nowadays be a fool to choose a woman.
I was gonna say, we got no doubts about the media either.
I love the ex post facto factor in all of this. Todays new found PC/puritanical, womens studies driven, standards regarding encounters with the opposite sex are applied in hindsight to yester-years conduct in order to criminalize what was the norm at the time.
I am not talking about sexual misconduct such as rape, assault, work place quid pro quo or harassment. I am talking about what was once part of the boy meets girl ritual that is becoming criminalized and conflated with true misconduct. It is all being done to further a political agenda..
I find it a laugh riot that the free love generation suddenly has a problem with free love. The American left did everything it could to drag our morality into the gutter and now, suddenly, has in effect closed the casino because they are shocked that gambling is occurring (but not before grabbing their winnings, i.e. the Clinton presidency and maybe one more handful of ass on the way out covered by a taxpayer funded hush).
When Billy boy was getting a BI from an 18 yr. old under the Oval Office desk, the press was aghast (wink) but secretly applauding that stud Bill and saying it was just sex. He got away with it. But now that he is no longer politically relevant the left tosses him aside in HINDSIGHT (or did they) and believes it has cleansed itself of what was its SHAMELESS defense of a man guilty/accused of true misconduct.
Id say it was all astounding but it is our friends on the left, after all.
Double Jeopardy is a legal term. They can bring up the same allegations as many times as they want as long as he isn't being tried in a court of law.
Ron Johnson had a great take on this. Asked and answered. If there are new allegations on hs conduct since he became President, bring it on.
To be sure, Lindy has never looked at a man’s package or a woman’s boobs that were bursting out.
No problem, we just follow the Matt Damon rule: “you know, theres a difference between, you know, patting someone on the butt and rape or child molestation”
