The head of Purdue Universitys School of Engineering Education, Donna Riley, argued in a recently published academic journal article tough engineering courses only serves to uphold white male heterosexual privilege. According to a report from Campus Reform, Riley, in an astonishing feat of vague postmodern writing, published an article in the most recent issue of the academic journal Engineering Education in which she argued that the concept of academic rigor is used as a means to exclude students from marginalized groups from academic communities.

Math is racist!!
She’s probably clueless of the inherent racist and sexist implications of her claim.
Hmmm, seems that academic areas having the word “education” in them contain the least capable people.
Remember, Bill Ayers as a PhD in “eddikashun”. Shows the standards are so low that even this idiot woman got a degree in something. However, it most certainly is NOT real STEM.
Is this an implicit acknowledgement that WHITE guys invented or created math, science and engineering?
Sounds like she is really concerned about the “Yellow Peril”.
Because graduating people as smart as we can make them is racist.
Go ahead...I don’t think many technology corporations are looking for majors in Black History, or basket weaving.
Then, whites get the engineering jobs, and the blacks then yell, yep...”white privilege”.
The last I looked, Chemistry, Physics, Integral Calculus, Statics, Dynamics, Solid Mechanics, Fluid Mechanics, Unit Operations, and the like did not much care about skin color.
The implication of the Professor’s claim is that white males are smarter than other people and it is unfair because our superior minds give us an advantage over women and darker males. IQs should thus be controlled and higher IQs should be subjected to electroshock treatments or other means of debilitation in order to render the system more fair. This does not, of course, apply to the professors and rulers who must retain their high IQs in order to regulate and maintain the resulting Utopia.
I want the people who build bridges and buildings and power plants and airplanes, etc., to have gone through tough engineering courses. If those engineers wind up being the straight white guys, so be it.
Riley also contends that scientific knowledge itself has a racial bias. Scientific knowledge itself is gendered, raced, and colonizing, she claimed, going on to argue it is inherent masculinist, white, and global North bias all under a guise of neutrality.
WTF??
Who let her out of the institution?
Exactly. I would have saved a lot of stress in my life if I could just fail my P.E. exam and get a professional license anyway. “Exams are racist” doesn’t work in any field where competence actually matters.
It is an acknowledgement that white males are simply better at math and scientific reasoning. I suppose that the egalitarian answer would be to ban all math beyond what is termed Consumer Math in the remedial classes for incoming freshmen. She is also unaware that Asian, both East Asian (Chinese and related peoples) and South Asian share that White Male Privilege and the epithet is thus diluted.
The perceived priviledge results from de facto inequality.
The general inequality can be sourced to personal decisions not to put forth the effort required to become equal
And isn't that the very thing that the globalists, One-Worlders, sociologists and liberals in general have vigorously denied for half a century and more?
> rigor has a historical lineage of being about hardness, stiffness, and erectness; its sexual connotations
I saw this from a different source a couple days ago and assumed it was a parody. This is total insanity.
Leah H. Jamieson, photo at link, is the one that selected Donna Riley.
Just because there is an entire Dark Continent with a billion people who never discovered the wheel is no reason to doubt their ability to engineer nuclear fusion powerplants or interstellar starships.
“I want the people who build bridges and buildings and power plants and airplanes, etc., to have gone through tough engineering courses.”
Right so do I and beyond that as an addition to our shared desire, I want those who feel like the nitwit author’s expressed belief to be those who are required to use birdges, buildings, fly in airplanes and live next to power plants engineered by the others.
