Roy Moore needed to lose — but what does it mean for 2018?
NY Post ^ | Dec 13, 2017 | John Podhoretz

America dodged a bullet in Alabama last night.

A man who was twice removed from his state’s Supreme Court for defying judicial orders, who said Muslims should not be allowed to serve in elective office, who suggested the black family was better off under slavery, and who declared that homosexuality should be illegal — this man will not be in the United States Senate. Thank God.

Note that I didn’t bring up the teenagers. Roy Moore was horribly unfit for high office — for any office — even if you put to one side the credible allegations against him for chasing girls as young as 14.

Democrats had no business winning. The special election for the Alabama Senate seat vacated by Attorney General Jeff Sessions is one pretty much any Republican in the state could have won — except for Roy Moore. No Democrat has held a Senate seat there in a quarter century. Alabama went 62 percent for Donald Trump in 2016.

Truth to tell, Doug Jones didn’t really win it. Roy Moore lost it. The possibility of this despicable goon serving Alabama in Washington was so horrifying to so many Alabamians that Republicans stayed home in droves and Democrats who probably couldn’t have picked Jones out of a lineup on Election Day stampeded to the polls.

Trump’s instincts to back Strange were proven correct. Moore appealed to the more hard core among us but not so much to Alabamans who had barely put him over the top in previous elections......that and the fact that the Left knew the seat was important and threw everything they had into wresting the seat from Trump - make no mistake, it was all about hurting Trump - and now McConnell has less pressure to get a tax bill or much of anything else done...he can screw the pooch and get our of Dodge anytime he likes.

At the heart of this, pulling Sessions from that seat and putting him in DOJ was, in hindsight, a really bad move that precipitated this chain of unfortunate events and gave the stupid party an opportunity to once again earn its name. There’s nothing quite like making really bad personnel picks to make you look stupid. Long live the stupid party and may they cease snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

I think the drive by and the Marxists/left will team up - along with George Soros - will pay more money to find more ‘victims’ in 2018 against Republicans.

I don’t know. Ignoring has resulted in a lot of loss’ since November. We are losing seats all over the country in red areas. That should not be ignored. We should be gaining not losing. To lose seats in Iowa and oklahoma among others is ridiculous. Alabama was a completely different situation, but red areas we are losing are not. Democrats are very enthusiastic with going to vote.

One win? I guess you forgot Virginia, Oklahoma, Iowa, red areas in New York, red areas in Georgia. Maybe one big win, but they have won a lot of state houses and house seats and governorships since November and various local seats. Wake up!!!!

Political chess. Seemingly good moves turn out to be not so good

With the victory over Moore, the Left has been enboldened to resist Trump and the individual freedom movement. The Left is working towards a compliant citizenry by controlling the flow of information through all forms of media. And they are becoming better and better at it.

The idiots on this board that are bragging and gloating about how smart they are because they saw this coming, and that Bannon’s a loser, etc. are small, pathetic cowards. Bannon’s a fighter. Thump’s a fighter. We need fighters to defeat the forces of tyranny. Those that ridicule those in the arena putting up the good fight are disgusting small excuses of human beings.

Nah, sorry. If Brooks had won the primary the GOPe would have dredged something up on him and destroyed him as well. This was a proxy war plain and simple. Mitch brought a gun and Bannon brought a rubber chicken. Mitch was willing to toss this seat to the Dems for theee years as long as Bannon lost.

So Mitch McConnell is now running the Compost? That’s interesting. No, the Democrats blew up Moore because they bothered to research his history. It’s as simple as that.

McConnell is probably taking some solace in the fact that this might temper the base’s enthusiasm to pick some more high-risk, flamboyant candidates next year and that he won’t have to answer for Moore’s propensity to put his foot in mouth. The credible pedo charges (and wishy-washy denial) made him indifferent to the outcome, but I don’t think he was affirmatively rooting for the Democrat to further weaken his already weak majority.

No, but his allies are running TO the Compost with oppo research and as sources for the takedown. It was a Jeb staffer who did this. It was the GOPe. The Dems, of course, jumped on board and Mitch was all too happy to say, “this one is yours. But see you in a few years.”

Fake news. Roy Moore was innocent of all the false accusations.

So, if McConnell was trying to get Strange elected, why then would he wait to go to the Compost until after the primaries? Your argument makes no sense.

That claim could have been made against anyone with no more or less reliability than it was made against Moore.

Moore didn’t lose this election Mitch, and the RINO republicans including Ted Cruz did for the same reasons the New York Times just pointed out his consistent opposition to the leftist agenda.

This vote count isn't over! The military vote won't be in until Tuesday. Regarding attacks on Moore, isn't a person innocent until proven guilty?
