Alabama votes on Tuesday in a special election to fill the Senate seat vacated by Jeff Sessions, now the attorney general. The last polls close at 8 p.m. Eastern. Strong support for Roy S. Moore, the Republican, is expected in rural, mostly white parts of the state and in its northern half. The Democrat, Doug Jones, aims to create a lead in the urban counties that include Birmingham and Montgomery, and across a band of largely black counties.
One critical battleground is a trio of smaller, whiter cities: Mobile, Tuscaloosa and Huntsville. Mr. Moore won a hard race in 2012 by keeping things close there. Mr. Jones hopes to win the cities by a convincing margin.

"Sent out" by whom....RAT political hacks? We need to see those absentee-ballot requests, and find out how many of those voters are dead.
My apologies to you, you were correct in your concerns about the race.
I don’t know.
Montgomery County Circuit Clerk Tiffany McCord said absentee voting was higher than expected for Tuesdays special election in the U.S. Senate.
McCord said she initially ordered only 400 ballots but had sent out more than 1,800 by late this afternoon.
Gee....what could go wrong, Tiffany???
Nothing to see, here. Move along.
They usually heavily favor the GOP if they count them, but there has to enough of them where it might make a difference in the election before they do. So the more of them there are the better.
I don't think it's a matter of ‘time moving on’...what we are seeing goes well beyond that.....human nature is waxing worse and worse just as we were told that it would.
I watched this race on line where there was a chat opened beside it...I could not believe the absolute utter filth being spewed....you could tell who was winning at any given moment by the heightened sewer language they used.....stunning really.
The “soft men and strident females” you spoke of are the very ones who'll be voting and running this country down the road.....so theirs no doubt we'll be a weaker nation for that....and Women in “high places” more times than not do not understand ‘strength’ unless it's to their own cause. Add in trans, homo's etc. willingly deceived individuals and illegals/foreigners you've got a recipe for a population ‘easy’ to manipulate.....and they ost assuredly will be.
Alabama SOS has Jones as the winner by 21000. It doesn’t get more authoritative than that.

Oh, Laura is such a longfaced pessimist. We actually won in several ways: We got rid of Franken and Conyers. Gloria Allred has been exposed as an extreme phony. McConnell has shown his ugly, traitorous side. Bannon is gearing up his War Room. The gloves are off between GOP elites and True Patriots. In 2018 the GOP establishment will be out on its arse.
BFD, we're better off if they stay, frankly. Not as if that seat goes to a Republican.
It doesn't seem he campaigned that hard, taking off last weekend for the Army-Navy game.
Is that how you tell voters you want to be their Senator?
GFY.
“We actually won in several ways: We got rid of Franken and Conyers. Gloria Allred has been exposed as an extreme phony. McConnell has shown his ugly, traitorous side.”
GARBAGE.
Franken will not go anywhere.
Gloria Allred’s crap worked and beat Moore.
McConnell has been a traitor for years. Any moron could see that.
The big thing was that smear campaign worked perfectly and people all over the country bought the story the media was selling and put enormous peer pressure on the people of Alabama to walk away from Roy Moore.
Moore did not do enough to help himself, but what can you do when you are outspent by at least 14 to 1 and probably more like 20 to 1 and your own party cuts out all support.
At the end of the day, the Democrats had a huge get out the vote operation that saw close to 7 million bucks being pumped into street money in the last 48 hours while the Republican Party did absolutely nothing to help Roy Moore - they cut off all funding and actually ran a negative get out the vote effort to encourage Republicans to stay at home and not vote rather than do everything possible to get them out to the polls.
Absolutely no Republican Party official ground game to speak of in Alabama to get out the vote in a crucial national election where Republicans hold a slim 2 seat majority in the Senate.
Democrats pulled out all the stops and in the last 48 hours before the election spent close to 10 million bucks, about 20 dollars in Get Out The Vote in walking around street money for each Democrat vote cast , while Republicans spent about 40 million dollars leading up the election to suppress their own voters before election day and not a penny on GOTV efforts to help Roy Moore get elected on election day.
Jones had very high levels of voter turnout and Republican voters took their cue from the Republican Party leadership and the media and stayed home.
They either bough the bogus sex predator line or they did not want to embarrass Alabama in front to the nation by sending “a guy like that” to Washington.
That’s what killed Roy Moore’s chances.
Newt Gingrich had it right, Republicans were killing themselves in a civil war while the Democrats were cutting a fat hog laying low and keeping their radical candidate under the radar screen.
Hope the losers in the Republican Party like what they have worked hard to achieve. Even people like Laura Ingram railed against Roy Moore and were delighted when Moore went down, because they let one of the most radical candidates for Senate smear and beat good man in a state like Alabama
The only silver lining out of this is that the smear campaign worked so well Moore’s election could have had a very negative effect on the 2018 mid term elections.
As it is, voters may figure out they have been had and express their displeasure in 2018.
It’s not over, they are saying Jones won but they haven’t counted military ballots yet. Moore will win, forget the bet.

Thanks. My concerns were over keeping that seat. Even if innocent, those are tough allegations to fight. When I saw the polls that way, I knew it was going to be a problem. If he was guilty and stayed in, that’s infuriating. If he was innocent, it sucks that he was the victim of a smear job, but he either had to get out there and campaign and fight or step aside. He did neither, largely disappearing and obviously not showing the fight he said he would bring to the Senate. Principle dictates sometimes you step aside to keep the seat for the sake of the party, Trump, and the Supreme Court. Strange would have won.
I told you when you were calling me a troll when I posted the poll a month ago that this didn’t look good. If Moore was innocent as he claimed, he should have fought, but he didn’t fight. He sparsely campaigned and often disappeared, refusing to debate Jones. Even if he was innocent and knew he was going to lose, it would be best to swallow pride and step aside for a sure fire candidate in my opinion.
That said, I think you are overblowing this. Another Republican would have won, so this isn’t about Trump or Republicans. Moore was rejected based on these allegations. Plus, because he was more controversial, the election likely would have been tighter than it would have been with a guy like Strange who would pick up more independent votes and wouldn’t full Democrat turnout so much.
Bottom line is, Trump will win Alabama in 2020 (if he doesn’t, no hope for the swing states), and he has a very good shot at bringing someone across the finish line with him as Republicans will turn out and will vote straight ticket for a guy like Brooks or Strange.
Well, if you say Moore will win, the bet should be back on because I say he doesnt. So, do we have a bet?
And that will cost the GOPe dearly in 2018. Conservatives are going to stay home and the GOP will lose seats when they should have had a massive pick up. This is a McConnell victory and the Uniparty will celebrate its victory over the people. Now with its proven weaponized sexual harassment club, the Uniparty will turn immediately to trying to beat Trump to death and completely stop the MAGA agenda.
