Alabama votes on Tuesday in a special election to fill the Senate seat vacated by Jeff Sessions, now the attorney general. The last polls close at 8 p.m. Eastern. Strong support for Roy S. Moore, the Republican, is expected in rural, mostly white parts of the state and in its northern half. The Democrat, Doug Jones, aims to create a lead in the urban counties that include Birmingham and Montgomery, and across a band of largely black counties.
One critical battleground is a trio of smaller, whiter cities: Mobile, Tuscaloosa and Huntsville. Mr. Moore won a hard race in 2012 by keeping things close there. Mr. Jones hopes to win the cities by a convincing margin.

Trump should have put Sessions at Defense not A.G., or have Sessions remain a Senator.
Sessions was a mistake as A.G.
It should have been Howard Safir, Rudy Giuliani, or Kris Kobach or some other Attorney.

Good grief! How pathetic a statement! Perhaps you were praying outside the will of God. This country is wicked. You think we deserve goodness? Look who we’ve filled the halls of Congress with: the very people who brought this defeat. God put Trump in power and all that is happening, even tonight, is within His will.
This close there will be a recount I suspect.

Sessions has been there a year and the only thing he’s done is recuse himself. He’s worthless.
Jones needs to increase his margin by about 9,000 to avoid a runoff. This thing is not over yet, even though 1/2 of the precincts left appear to be in Mobile County, and 50 precincts are left in Montgomery County.
