Chris Matthews has come close to calling a liar an Alabama woman who said her grandmother was 16 when she married a man in his 30s.
On this evening’s Hardball, Boston Globe reporter Annie Linskey said that a woman she interviewed in Alabama told her that her grandmother had married at 16. Matthews retorted, “yeah, but her grandfather was 17.” Linskey replied, “no, no, he was in his 30s.” Shot back a skeptical Matthews:
“No! Are they dreaming this up just to win the case down there? That seems very convenient.”

The liar Chris Matthews calls a woman a liar for telling her family’s story. For “progressives”, if the facts contradict the narrative, then the facts lie.
Progressives lack compassion and tolerance. Their self-aggrandizement is all that matters.
“He is not very bright.”
Maybe that is the crux of the problem with liberals. They’re just really dumb and so destructive things because they misinterpret normal people’s words and actions as strange or evil.
History isn’t a strong point for leftists.
Dennis Quaid played Jerry Lee and reminded me of “Reverend Jim”. I hate to say that since Dennis complimented me on a roll he saw me play. He probably felt obligated to say it.
I was living in Memphis when it was filmed. Before filming started I told my wife “Jerry Lee will probably get arrested over something before it’s over.” He was arrested for shooting off a pistol at Graceland. He said “Elvis gets all the good press and I get all the bad.”
My grandfather was 32 when he married my 14 year old grandmother. They worshipped each other. Growing up, the man across the street was 17 when he married his 34 year old bride. That relationship was rather sickening as she ruled the roost until the day he died, but he died loving her and she him.

As of six months ago, the U.S. was still paying Civil War survivor benefits (and might still be doing so). The survivor is a child of a veteran who married a woman at least fifty years younger than himself and fathered children at ages 83 and 87.
One of my best friends told me when we were in our 20s that he was going to wait until he was 65 to marry and would marry a girl from Iceland.
Now this may sound a bit odd but I believed him and he did, almost.
I have never known anyone who could pickup girls so easily. I remember when we were both young, he dated Miss New Mexico who was a doll. He also dated Miss Universe who was a TV announcer in Venezuela.
Well he did finally get married at 65 but she was not from Iceland. She is Chinese and was a model. They have now been married almost 10 years which surprises me.
A few months ago, he confidentially told me that he should have married a girl we both knew around 1966. She was a sweet, pretty girl and was still younger than him.
The liberal elites know nothing of the south in the 50s and 60s. These types of marriages were common place!!!
And that was exactly why it was commonly that way. Older, established man finds woman of prime child-bearing age in order to have a family. That was not at all unusual. It is only due to progressive manipulation of societal norms that anybody even finds it questionable. Men are, also, able to reproduce at a much greater age than women. That is a biological fact. And either we were designed that way, or we evolved that way (it doesn't matter which as far as the argument is concerned), for a reason. Normal. Standard practice, even among many other species. Don't be fooled by progressive faux morality used for political ends.

My grandfather was 36 and my grandmother 17 when they married. But they were in Missouri. Even more backwards than Alabama. :-)
My Mom was 15 and married a man who was 30. That was her 1st Marriage. then when she was 18, she married another 30 year old man who survived pearl harbor.
