Shirley, this can't be true.
First?
Well, prior to that, there was the assassination of JFK, followed by the Soviet-instigated "cultural revolution" of the sixties, with huge protests from black power, the counter-culture hippies, women's lib, "God is dead", the queer movement, plus Bill Ayers and the weathermen, Abbie Hoffman etc etc etc....
Then before that, the McCarthy hearings, rousting out Hollywood and public figures...and even before that...the good old Gray Lady.
Reagan destroyed the USSR, but they also destroyed American culture. Today half the voting public supports Marxism.
I think your underlying premise was, before you were scolded, that business would cut down ALL the old growth forest if they had their way.
That isn’t the same as saying some regulation is good. That’s a change from your original position.
If you’re now saying you were wrong about all old growth forest and all businesses, I accept your correction.
However, let it be known that millions of acres are in the National Park service and won’t be logged; ever. And even so, where private ownership exists, many decide not to log or disturb, but keep the forest pristine for their own reasons. The Natural Conservatory is one such group of private owners. And that’s good, owners get to decide. I cannot fault them.
However, please also understand that the spotted owl decision back in the 1980s put thousands of people out of work. It wasn’t just the logger barons that lost, but regular, everyday Joes. I absolutely hate to hear about these things, and the total disregard for these people by their so-called betters in Washington, New York and Los Angeles. The Leftists just don’t care.
Same thing that Obama and Hillary did to the coal miners. Trump told them he had their back and he won in large part in Pennsylvania due to this. And he wasn’t just saying so, like most politicians, but is getting coal back online. The lie of the Left, Fhios, is similar to what you started with, that the big coal companies don’t give a hoot about anybody else but their profits and will kill us all with coal smoke.
BUT, they ignore all the advances that clean coal gives us and how far the industry has cleaned it up. Obama acted as if he’s never heard of scrubbers and other technologies, yet at the same time, thought he knew all about pie-in-the-sky renewables in solar and wind, while absolutely ignoring both the ecological and consistent power issues with them. The bottom line, hundreds of thousands got economically ruined. For what? Politics!
This one jumped out at me so I missed the Dingle-Berry
Sens. Bernie Sanders, CCCP-Vt.
Last summer we had a lightning strike in Central Oregon which started a small fire which could have been put out with a couple of firefighters. The Forest Service and BLM in DC decided to let it burn until it was 35,000 acres and took 4 weeks to put out when the rains started.
Is that the controlled burns you are talking about?
Now for 100 years or so we have had artificial fire suppression. The question of whether controlled burns are good is valid: yes they are good in some cases. But the idea that controlled burns, logging or anything else can prevent giant wildfires in California is mistaken. It is simply not true. For example a single season of brush growth was enough to feed the northern CA fires. Those areas can't be logged and controlled burns would have had limited effectiveness.
If you want to see the ultimate in bias and how the drivebys slant the news or any controversial issue just watch what F.Chuck is doing on MTP today, its unreal.total bias against judge Moore interviewing only those on his side and ever then twisting and turning to make is seem that Moore is so guilty of picking on young women he shouldn’t even be considered.
F.Chuck is truly pathetic. You can tell the dems have little of anything going for them.
Now F.Chuck trying to make the case that electing Moore brings down the entire Republican party. He must have some really slick DNC chatting points today.
Artificial fire suppression will not stop giant fires. The cases where controlled burns got out of control are vastly outnumbered by those that did not. The question is whether we can stop giant wildfires in boom/bust areas like California and other parts of the West. The answer is no.
Of course I'm not saying all business are bad. I just thought it didn't need to be said, and it doesn't take all corporations being bad to destroy and overuse what we have.
So yea, apologies if incorrectly stated it or made misleading comments. Which ever you prefer.
Keep telling us what you think I wrote. It seems to be the order of the day.
LOl that’s for sure, warming a little now...
Off Key Largo at Mollasses Reef Light: its 53.2 degrees at 8:00 am(buoys are late, they are govt, run we are lucky if they even work)water temp 74.7 wind chill 46.9 and winds out of the NNW at 23—very raw day for us here in the fab fla. Keys.(still the sailfish bit will be on)
Most companies harvest less than 20% of permanent sustainability levels. It would be impossible to harvest enough to wipe out the trees. You are talking over 100,000 square miles in Oregon alone.
Opening statement is Excellent - however you forgot to properly idenify Doug Jone
White, Privileged, 1%er who is seeking to enslave the people of Color in Alabama
Crazy Bernie now on with F.Chuck spinning the results of the tax bill off the charts.Business as usual.
I'm waiting for Ambassador Sniglet. Or Treasury Undersecretary Chode.
Whom to believe ?.....shouldn't be difficult answer.
On the subject of sexual harrassment; We hear a lot about DJT's admitted sexual attacks on women as he boasted in the video tape. Knowing DJT as a bit of a cad, I'm sure he's tried some such described locker room braggadocio, but it is not clear he's actually done anything close to rape.
Franken's sins, as initially described, did not warrant resignation, in my opinion. They looked like sexually oriented jokes. We've since learned much more, regularly occurring, and recent, since he's been in office, and deserving of further scrutiny.
It has gotten to the point that male/female relationships will be chilled....some say to the point that men will be hesitant to hire women, or ever be alone with them, or travel on business trips when honestly warranted.
That is not a good assumption at all. That is leftist dogma, there is a better assumption if left to the lumber industry the forests and wildlife would be far healthier than they are now.
Gotcha that’s what I thought. How important is it to remove the underbrush near and underneath many trees? How big a fire hazard is that?
