Common Russian battle tactics, currently on display in Ukraine and elsewhere, uses three rows of snipers in battle. Although the first two rows present a challenge for even the best marksmen, its the back rowwhich can be around 2,000 yards away from a targetwhere Russia places its most elite. Now a U.S. Army report says that this last row of warriors have become even more deadly, thanks to a new weaponthe T-5000 Tochnost rifle.
The report, called the Russian New Generation Warfare Handbook, warns that Russian snipers are far more advanced than the precision shooters U.S. formations have encountered over the last 15 years and cant be thwarted by usual anti-sniper tactics of locating and pinning down the sniper. To be put simply, the Army is being outgunned

LOL
You had me going. I was wondering if you were suggesting dropping water on the snipers. That might actually be effective in sub-zero temperatures!

I dont think their tactics are any match for warriors shooting what Taya Kyle did in the demo.
If it was dropping gasoline that could be ignited shortly after drop would sure make a hell of a bang.
1 lb of gas vaporized ewuals about 12 lbs of tnt
That’s an anti-sniper weapon??
jk

I’ve been told of some amazing shots they have done with the 12.7MM version. (they also have some 50BMG’s too)
Thanks for the link.
Well, we used 155mm howitzers as an anti-sniper weapon in Aachen...so a TOW wouldn’t be too out of place as a tactic.
Dousing the sniper would likely cause him trouble.
I’d love to have a 50BMG. Might be able to actually afford one of those.
I’m in awe of the 12.7MM and the 20MM stuff. But must have a destructive device license for that. It costs a little to get that.
A bullet requires some time to travel 2,000 meters. Not being where the shooter thinks you will be is a defense. Don’t stand still in an exposed spot, or move in the same direction for any length of time.
Actually that’s a creative solution to counter-sniper problems.
Drones with hellfire missiles, rotary mortars, tomohawks, tanks, basic artillery, air strike, etc.
Lots ways to take a sniper out at distance.
Ive got an AR 30 in 338 Lapua and I already can barely afford to shoot that...lol
“Actually thats a creative solution to counter-sniper problems.”
Ha ha, actually, I’m going to pretend that you fully intended that picture to be in this thread - that your suggestion to deal with snipers is to dump huge amounts of water on them!
That's why I volunteered to carry the M60 machinegun for the three years that I was in the infantry ...
Parent case for the .338 Lapua is the .416 Rigby. The CheyTac uses .505 Gibbs Magnum as the parent. Fortunately Jamison stepped up and did a run of .505 Gibbs cases, addressing the higher pressure by including a belt on the inside.
Jamison was hounded and eventually shuttered by atf and associated .govs for exporting military material without proper dispensation. Seem they sent a box of, as I recall, .577-450 Martini-Henry brass overseas.
My old man was a BAR gunner during WWII in the ETO. He told me they used the BAR to “snipe” unwary Germans who believed they were out of first round range. It involved a spotter with some good quality German binoculars and the shooter would aim low and let off a burst on the faster rate of fire available on the BAR. They got consistent hits.
Most of the targets were out of their holes to relieve themselves... Ain’t war grand?
Or acquire a computerized scope that does all that for you.
