Trump to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital, forge ahead with moving US Embassy

President Trump on Wednesday will order the State Department to begin moving the U.S. Embassy in Israel to Jerusalem from Tel Aviv, senior administration officials said, a move that fulfills a campaign promise made to religious conservatives but one that could inflame tensions across the Middle East.

In his announcement, Trump will say that the U.S. government recognizes Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. One official described it as an "honest" acknowledgement of a "seven-decade old fact."

“While President Trump recognizes that the status of Jerusalem is a highly sensitive issue, he does not think it will be resolved by ignoring the simple truth that Jerusalem is home to Israel’s legislature, its Supreme Court, the prime minister and is such the capital of Israel,” one official said.

The U.S. would be the first country to move its embassy to Jerusalem, which is claimed by both Israelis and Palestinians. Other countries who have diplomatic relations with Israel keep their embassies in Tel Aviv.

The Europeans and the US Left really don’t want to give any further recognition to a bunch of Jews. The proper function of Jews is to be Scapegoats for the failures of rulers and ideologies. Te Left has always operated on Fantasy.

I have come to believe he sees the world as I do, and he’s going about making the changes I would.

I feel the same way...for the first time since Ronald Reagan's presidency.

The beauty of it is that Congress doesn’t have to pass this because they passed it a long time ago and it is the law of the land. They had added a provision it that the President could delay that move . Trump did not sign the delay .
Congress can’t say squat about it :)

Right, and he would probably like to hear whatever these nuts are screeching too.   (Probably something like, "All-of-you auk-birds!")

It’s true! 1pm today he’s supposed to make comments, among them declaring that Jerusalem is THE capital of Israel. The embassy move may take months logistically but he’s officially putting it in motion. So delighted with this. Finally a president is keeping his word on this campaign promise (after previous 3 have NOT) and finally we have a president who consistently keeps his word in general!

Amen. And you watch, the reaction is going to be anticlimactic at best. Besides I think that despite public posturing, it’s entirely possible that some Mideast countries are shrugging their shoulders over it. Thankfully we finally have a president who has the guts to say enough already.

Sure is great to see isn’t it.

Imagine someone calling themselves a Conservative looking back thinking he wasn’t the right guy last year.

MSM is already losing their minds over this. It is worth it for that reason alone.

I wonder what the NYC Jews are thinking about this? You would think that ABCCBSCNNNBCNYSLIMES would have interviewed numerous Jews in NYC and get their opinions on this.

I wonder what the New York, Houston and Detroit muzlims are thinking about this...We might be in for a wild ride here in the U.S...But still, I support the move 100%...

He’s going to sign the waiver, however, just as all the presidents have done before him. Meanwhile, Penn Station and Grand Central have to be evacuated because of smoke.

Yesterday was the deadline for signing the waiver, and he didn’t sign it.

Good. But I still think Amir is correct when he says “The embassy will not be moved.”

“But the president still plans to sign a national security waiver to keep the embassy in Tel Aviv for an additional six months, even as the relocation plan moves ahead.”

Amir says he did sign it yesterday. He says this in the first three minutes of this video.
