When I was six years old and my brother was eight, each of us was given a quarter to spend in a candy store before seeing a movie. I thought my quarter was a fortune, but not so my brother. The third-grader was unhappy with the quantity of popcorn he could get for his coin and complained to the shopkeeper. The impatient shopkeeper asked my brother, "What do you want for 25 cents, the Brooklyn Bridge?" My brother said, "Yeah, ya got any in stock?"
This exchange happened in the late 1950s on Staten Island. The TV show Impractical Jokers is also a creation of Staten Islanders: four guys who stage embarrassing hidden camera pranks around New York City. It is no coincidence that this show features New Yorkers pulling weird, sometimes humiliating and disgusting pranks on other New Yorkers. It's the only place they could get away with it. Humor, sarcasm, laughing at yourself and others, acerbic name-calling, and "ranking out" are essential coping mechanisms for life in New York – especially so for the mensches, the real people in the streets, stores, and neighborhoods.
New Yorkers have what psychologists call a large capacity for benign violation. In other words, they can take it, and they can dish it out, too. When the New Insensitive Male in the White House calls the identity-hoaxer Senator Elizabeth Warren "Pocahontas" – punctuated by adding that the only apology he makes is to the real Pocahontas for comparing her to goofy Liz – Trump is being an archetypal guy from Queens. He is deploying humorous mockery, a powerful coping mechanism in conflict situations, which, like my brother, he learned to use as a child

Another aspect is that the left just cannot stand the fact that others don’t take them as seriously as the take themselves.
They are strutting peacocks who have a grand opinion of themselves and deeply resent it when others don’t hold them in equal esteem.
They react to ridicule, jokes about them, their motives and their actions the way we react to aspersions cast at our religion.
That is because they are their own gods.
The see themselves as selfless and well meaning and their beliefs as the True Way to salvation.

We were the WOPs, The Micks, the Spics, the Pollacks, the Kikes, the Krauts, the Schwarters, and we made jokes about each other and laughed and remained friends in spite of it all. We were born with tough skin, and we were disciplined in school, and took the hits. What a breed we were compared to most of what we see today. If you really offend us, no problem, we’d work it out with a punch in your face, but that rarely happened because we knew it was in fun. In spite of our differences we were one when in a group.
It takes a brusk "punch back twice as hard" operating style like Trump to withstand the 24/7 onslaught of the Deep State. He really is the only guy for the job. A more "sensitive" man would be mentally destroyed by the jackals in the press. He is the right man at the right time to destroy the Deep State before it destroys us.

Half of what Trumps says is “NY-style humor” with an edge and subtext. The news media knows this — and their pretense that every word Trump says is literal is one reason the public sees the media as fakers.
The daughter of Chief Powhattan had other real” names (Amonute, Matoaka, Rebecca per Wikipedia) and Pocohantas was a nickname, translated variously as “playful one”, “little wanton”, and “trickster”. Given Warren’s false claims of Native American ancestry to advance her career, “trickster” seems appropriate.
The Code Talkers ceremony should have been 100% about honoring these elderly men and their extraordinary, heroic service, and 0% about Donald Trump and his political gibes. I’d rather the President demonstrated a smart brain than a smart mouth; New York humor is no excuse for being an ignorant selfish ass, stealing the spotlight from dying veterans. Pretending to be a “journalist” is a poor excuse for that too.
Humor is not possible among people who deem errant thought to be criminal.
I can barely joke around on my FB discussion pages. The leftists are so humorless. And their jokes are lame and mean-spirited, if they attempt to joke. They spew baseless jargon. You can tell they’re using talking-points, if they’re not down right Hillarybots.

Agreed. Tweeting about the Matt Lauer scandal and trying to get a jab in against "fake news" was likewise uncalled for.
As staunch a supporter of President Trump I am, I must admit that he frequently overdoes it.

I attended my 50th high school reunion last year and a bunch of us guys who hung out together were having a blast at the hotel bar before the event started.
No one was called by their proper name. We all referred to each other by the nicknames we had bestowed on each other back when we hung out in school.
Some of those names would not pass PC muster nowadays, but back then we all had fun and meant no harm.
We are life-long friends who wouldn't know what to call each other if it wasn't something derogatory. It's how guys were back when I was growing up. It toughen us up a bit. Made for a thicker skin which we would all need when we got out into the real world.
Nowadays they want a apology and a safe space to retreat to if you even say "boo" to these kids.
Shame on us for allowing it to get this far in our schools.
