The top two Democrats in Congress canceled a meeting with President Trump slated for later Tuesday, saying they didn’t see him as a viable partner in trying to strike an end-of-year spending deal.
The stunning move attempts to further sideline Mr. Trump and portray him as at odds with his party’s own leadership in Congress.
Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi announced their decision to skip the meeting hours after Mr. Trump said he doubted they could reach a deal on an end-of-year spending bill.

Democrats hate truth . . . it’s like holy water on a vampire.
And the democrats and the media, same thing, Will still say it’s the Republicans shutting down the government.
So THE DEMOCRATS will shut down the government just so that illegal aliens can stay here and suck up welfare and goodies, while the American people suffer from the shutdown.
And the spineless Republicans like Ryan (anybody know where he is these days?) and McConnell, McCain, Graham, Corker, Flake, Portman, Murkowski, and Collins will not say a word, unless it’s to blame Trump.
And not a single federal employee will lose a dime in pay, so they all will be getting a paid vacation.
What a great country!

The 21 day shutdown of 95 -96 was the longest and the Pubbies willingly owned it. The Pubbies caved to the Dims when they realized that no one was missing all of that essential government. The Pubbies, especially the big compassionate government Pubbies now known as the GOPe, got worried that they were on the verge of permanently shrinking the government and ended it.

Trump wanted them to cancel the meeting. Why waste his time? The Dems want to shut down the government over DACA. They care more about illegal aliens than they do about American citizens.
Good deal Schumer and Pelosi have nothing to offer they are only speed bumps on the progress road.
Their bet is that Trump will sign anything that makes it through Congress.
They are right.
Something like 4% of the country's population actually wanted the shutdown to end.
Going to be much tougher to make this “shutdown” seem like anything now that a Republican is president. He won’t shut down national parks (including preventing people from parking on the side of the road to look at them) or veterans’ memorials like his loathsome predecessor did.
Guess Upchuck and Nanzi will have to rely on their good buds in the media to scrounge up some sad sacks to whine to the camera about how the horribleawfulginormous shutdown gave them butthurt.
They blame him for everything anyway.
Actually a real government shutdown would be a nice gift for the taxpayers...if only they would leave most of it shut down.
