Can you imagine what it would be like to see your lifes work suddenly go down the drain? I can - right now. As a former Time editor who spent 13 years editing the magazines coverage of environmental issues, I am in despair because Time Inc. is selling itself to Meredith Corp. in a deal that includes a $650 million investment from Charles and David Koch, whose Koch Industries is a big player in the oil and gas business and whose philanthropy has long funded climate-change denial. It is a tragic end to a Time story that was once glorious but turned sad as corporate woes increasingly affected the editorial product at one of Americas iconic news outlets. The story is not just about the fate of Time. The story is about the fate of the world.
For the moment, we will still have the harsh truth about climate change published in The New York Times, The New Yorker, Rolling Stone and The Nation. But the Internet is hurting those publications revenues as well, and what happens if they too get bought by the deep-pocketed titans of fossil fuel?
I still have faith that in the long ideological war over climate change, the truth will eventually prevail. The ravages of global warming will become too obvious to be denied, even by the likes of Trump. But by then the damage to the planet may be irreversible, and my beloved Time, once a soldier for truth, may be marching with the forces of greed and deception.

Hard to believe that anybody cares about Time magazine.
Call the wwwwhhaaaaaaambulance! So sad when the truth is found out, eh?
Mr. Alexander contributed to TIME’s decline.
Yes, it would be awful if a NON-liberal magazine was around.

Now that is some funny ...stuff... there!
Maybe Meredith, with the Koch brothers backing can make it something worth caring about again. I'm hearing that they plan to sell it and SI off, but I'd rather see them use it as a vehicle for 'real' news.
In essence, this is the happy story of capitalism crushing communism.
Koch Derangement Syndrome is so sad to witness. #thoughtsandprayers
I’m a bit curious as to what the Koch brothers want with time. As a long time customer of Koch industries, they will change the Time business model. They will also improve it.
But it is different then their typical businesses.
Mr. Alexander affirms for all to see and nod their head WHY his “beloved” TIME Magazine FAILED! He, and Liberals like him KNOW CC is a FRAUD and the corresponding TRUTH is that it is nothing more than a TAX for Liberal Politicians worldwide to use to further LIBERAL government free-shit programs. It’s “Wealth Transfer” not “Climate Change”.
It’s a great day that another Liberal Rag dies!
They only care because someone outside the Ministry of Propaganda is going to be running it.
That first paragraph has more sappy drama than an entire Harlequin Romance novel!!
I’m pretty certain that this writer is only a few sentences away from kissing the barrel of a loading gun! GEEZ! I hope he has someone watching him 24-hours a day!
"Oh, no!!!! My opponent might actually be allowed to share their viewpoints in the great national debates!!! I cannot allow this!!! This is the stuff of nightmares!!!"
If ever you needed evidence that Liberals actually know that their ideas are empty, and that they cannot win a sincere debate, here is yet another piece.
Goodness mercy me, their message just has no chance to get out there!!
Climate Scientologists everywhere are outraged and deeply saddened.
The only shock is that the Koch Bros. would put that much money into a defunct Leftist rag such as Time. The “all bidness” must be so good that they need a big tax write-off for this failed enterprise.
Not really, but it sure is comforting to think of yours swirling around the toilet!

This is seriously hilarious. I laughed out loud.
The Koch’s are just loaning $650 million as part of a $2.85 billion business buy. They aren’t taking a seat on the board. Without a seat on the board they have no say in the running of the company. They just get payments on their loan.
Not everything the Koch’s do is political. Most of their assets are not involved in political enterprises.
