It's been 19 days since Rand Paul was attacked by a neighbor while mowing his lawn. And on Wednesday, the story got even stranger as the wife of the Kentucky Republican Senator wrote a piece for CNN detailing the extent of the injuries he suffered in the attack.
"There have been several nights where I had my hand on my phone ready to call 911 when his breathing became so labored it was terrifying," writes Kelley Paul of her husband.
What's even more striking is how Kelley Paul describes the attack -- and the motive behind it...
In the immediate aftermath of the Nov. 3 attack at Paul's home in Kentucky, several neighbors spoke out to CNN and other national news sites, insisting that it was the boiling point of a long-running dispute over flora and fauna. "A neighbor who did not want to be identified said the two have been 'quibbling' over yard waste for years," CNN wrote on Nov. 7. A statement by a lawyer for Rene Boucher, the man who tackled Paul, seemed to affirm that story...
So, what the heck actually happened -- and more importantly why? Why would someone who had been a longtime neighbor of Paul's suddenly snap and inflict serious damage on him? Why is there so much effort to push totally contradictory explanations of the incident and what motivated it? We are dealing with a US Senator who was viciously attacked at his home. Boucher pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor assault earlier this month, making it more likely there will be a trial at which we may finally get this mystery solved.
What gives? What really happened? How do we not know this yet?

It was an assassination attempt. Well planned.
Guys, like that guy, would search the internet for ways to try and take somebody out quickly.
CNN pretends to be puzzled over violent deranged Leftist hatred.
CNN continuing their historic journalistic malfeasance by adding absolutely nothing to the conversation.
Hey, at least CNN didn’t blame President Trump.
Nothing will awaken the GOP. It was evident after the attempted massacre of 20+ pubbies at the congressional baseball practice.
I have no use for them. They aren’t worth the eight mile drive to my polling place.
Senator Rand was seriously injured by an unprovoked and vicious attack.
Why is the charge only a misdemeanor assault? Why is there not a more serious felony charge, like attempted murder?
This sounds very personal. Maybe he was having affair with the guys wife?
“They arent worth the eight mile drive to my polling place.”
Well now that will certainly address the problem. How about for a primary challenger?
I want to know why the charge is so low. I want to know why Boucher’s attorney is telling him to plead not guilty and therefore risk discovery in a trial on such a minor charge.
Something smells really, really bad about this....
Just like Las Vegas and the Texas church shooting.
WFT is going on in our criminal justice system?
That is what doesn’t make sense. If I physically attack a senator will I get a misdemeanor?
If only there was some kind of media organization out there that would go to KY and ask those questions...
The attack on Rand Paul was timed to the planned Antifa Day Of Rage attacks inciting mass violence and murder
They want it to be over landscaping issues so that the FBI doesn’t investigate or Federal Charges.
6 broken ribs? Flying tackle from behind at the lower back? That’s not even allowed in the NFL (crack back blocking). Add that he had headphones on and never had a chance to defend himself, I believe the man intended on doing serious bodily injury.
Why just a misdemeanor assault? Slapping somebody, pushing, even spitting on somebody is misdemeanor assault. This was criminal assault with intent to harm. Send in the FBI and bring him up on Federal charges.
So, let’s get this straight... CNN, who presumably expects to be taken as something other than a partisan joke as a news organization, writes a “gee, what happened?” story based on statements from unidentified sources and someone’s feeling that a lawyer’s statement “seemed to” affirm stories for which they fail to provide any factual evidence in the first place. Uh, huh.
You won't be voting for that RINO SOB on the ballot - YOU will be voting for TRUMP!
Please vote for that lump of swamp scum just to help our President.
You’ve got unnamed sources saying the attack was about lawn clippings. On the other side you have actual people with names saying it was politically motivated. Who to believe?
