Jump School at Fort Benning 1976. Spent the weekend with a good friend from college (we were both accounting grads in the same class) who lived in Albany GA.
His dad took me to their candy factory, they specialized in candy canes. Although they sold the company years ago, I retain a fondness for sweets from Bob's Candies.
Next couple of Thanksgivings were spent pulling Staff Duty Officer at my battery at Hahn AB. Bachelors took over those duties, to give the married soldiers time with their families.

I remember enjoying the meal in the Dining Facility (Mess Hall) when my Father was stationed in Baumholder Germany. Would have been in the early ‘60s. My first while on active duty was at DLIWC at Monterey Calif in ‘71 with Christmas that year at “Home” - Quarters at Ft Sill, OKLA.

Nurnberg Germany. Top Sergeant invited me over for Thanksgiving. His wife cooked up a great meal.
Christmas eve with a bunch of friends out on the town. Christmas Day can’t remember.

Killeen/Ft Hood, Texas 1972 (about 25 miles from where I am now)
We went home to my Dad's one year for Christmas from Ft Lewis. I mentioned how nice it was and he said "It ought to be, it's the first time in 15 years." I never even realized it.
Spent 9 in Germany, 1 in Korea, 1 in the Sinai, 1 in Saudi Arabia and this will be 25 here at home.
