Yeah, guys are pretty gross- I never even send my wife pics of my face... I hate when my picture is even taken.

Representative Barton has served in the House for 32 years. He recently announced a re-election bid, but now tells the Texas Tribune he's reconsidering. Adios, you old RINO.

Some people seem to be trying to make excuses for the practice of taking, and sending, pornographic selfies. I refuse to go along with that. It’s stupid, it’s dangerous, and it’s inexcusable. And it WILL have consequences particularly for people in positions of public trust.
I know you (BG) in particular have denied any interest or willful involvement in such conduct. So I say to others: “Stop it. It’s simply not worth whatever temporary thrill you get from it.”

But guys in general seem to react to visual stimuli more than females. This guys seems to have made the mistake of believing that what he liked, she liked.

Desires are one thing, exposing private parts of one’s no longer compelling self over the internet is rather a bit different.

I know you (BG) in particular have denied any interest or willful involvement in such conduct..I can totally assure you that even my husband wouldn't get such thing from me.
But I'm not aghast if a married couple did that.

I must be an outlier.
Im willing to give him a pass for a moment of lust induced stupidity if the relationship was consensual.
It was multiple women, so it wasn't a "moment of lust".
If this were a Democrat, you'd be saying something different.

ones no longer compelling self over the internet...I bet he never thought the entire internet would see it.
I think another question here is why are people over a certain age, or even weight, not expected to have sexual feelings and/or desire physical intimacy?
I'd be willing to be that for men, that's one of the last great emotions you lose.

That said, Mister Barton could never, ever win another election;
He will win his district, simply because he has an (R) next to his name. Far too many people, Republicans and Conservatives included, do not care as long as he or she has the proper letter next to their name.

If this were a Democrat, you'd be saying something different. If I were younger, I'd be saying something different.
I'm not saying it was a smart thing to do, but if the photos were consensual I don't think he broke any laws.
But maybe that's just the way I feel about it today.

I bet he never thought the entire internet would see it. That's right. HE DIDN'T THINK.
Any thoughts in the direction of privacy, or discretion, or personal security, would have told him "NO! This is a security risk, and not worth the thrill. Think: Front Page, Washington Post!" And then he might have expressed his desires in less vulgar terms, without the nasty picture.

These people are idiots!!!!!!!!!!!! How can they legislate if they are that stupid?
To: Bodleian_Girl
If I were younger, I'd be saying something different.
Let's see what Joe Barton had to say a few years ago:
"It's important that House Republicans adhere to the values you elected us to defend and honor."
Sleeping with multiple women and passing around nude photos and videos of yourself while you're separated from your wife is not one of those values.

No, all candidates are first screened for their ability to raise money. I participated in some campaigns in the past and can tell you raising money is the overriding thing that the state and national parties use to decide if a potential candidate is "viable" or not.
I wish people in the general public, no matter their political leanings, would understand that people run for office to get rich. The higher the office, the greater the payoff. All the other perks are secondary to getting rich.
