Princeton University wants to ensure that students know how to ask each other to dance, and so recently issued instructions for obtaining consent on the dance floor.
The guidelines came in the form of a Facebook post shared by Princetons Sexual Harassment/Assault Advising, Resources, & Education (SHARE) office and created by the schools UMatter initiative in anticipation of the annual Orange and Black Ball (OBB) that took place last Friday.

Probably more than one-even more outrageous, according to the article and graphic, once you are on the floor, you must periodically ask the dance partner if they are still okay with continuing the dance-as if they are incapable of saying I’m done here and leaving the floor on their own...

My cowboy and I used to dance all the time-we even danced through a mall once when “Long Cool Woman” was playing in the stereo store-while people stared at us like we were insane. We have reconnected after 40+ years, so I was looking forward to dancing with him again after years of dancing in the kitchen by myself-but he doesn’t show an interest in that any more-I’m going to have to resort to your wife’s method if I want to dance with him, I guess...

Going back to the 40’s & 50’s? “Girls” on one side, “Boys” on the other with parents as chaporones?

When guys, uh, "dance" with girls from behind, they don't always turn around to see who it is.

What about the guys who just start dancing on the floor and joining in with other dancers without saying anything?

Can a host or hostess also put an end to this sort of unwanted display?

I would like to see the reaction to that at a Princeton dance-probably would cause a dozen or more snowflakes to run screaming or collapse in terror...

LMAO! In the mid 80’s, my 1st hubby and I were at a dinner-and-dance place we liked on a Saturday night-it was maybe 7:30, and the band was practicing a reggae number while people were eating dinner before the band officially took to the stage-a rather plump young woman in a really tight, short sequined cocktail dress wiggled her way to the middle of the floor and started shaking it for all she was worth, out there all by herself-the band just kept playing while everyone either stared, whistled or laughed-it was worth seeing...

I would guess the next step is all young women having an older woman as a chaperon to protect her virtue.

Colleges obviously have way too many non-value-added people with too much time on their hands. This needs to be changed.
