Unfortunately, here in the burbs, most of us dont even KNOW our next-door neighbors, these days. You miss my point
People answering surveys are reluctant to indicate their own voter choice
Asking about a "neighbor" gives them a non threatening choice
with or without an actual neighbor.

I don’t know anything about polling, but I don’t see how a question like that would garner useful data.
I’d probably be even less inclined to answer that question than a direct one about my own opinions.
