On Thursday Sens. John Cornyn (R-TX), Chris Murphy (D-CT), and Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) announced a new gun control bill which centers on background checks for gun purchases. The bill was also signed by Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), Orrin Hatch (R-UT), and Dean Heller (R-NV). Fox News Congressional reporter Chad Pergram tweeted that the bill is designed to Âstrengthen the background check system in the wake of the Texas church attack. ==snip= Murphy is ecstatic. He tweeted that the legislation is the most significant gun law promoted since Sen. Joe Manchin (D-NW) pushed universal background checks as a response to the Sandy Hook Elementary School attack: "" Chris Murphy ï²Verified accountï @ChrisMurphyCT The Fix NICS Act is the most important piece of bipartisan guns legislation since Manchin-Toomey. 4 Dems, 4 Republicans. Reforms aren't window dressing. Big deal. 9:45 AM - Nov 16, 2017 ""

And then they’ll strut around claiming they’re doing something about gun violence. Yeah, more laws, that’ll work.

Dean Heller looking to secure his base. Oh, wait a minute! He has no bse!
The only “gun control bill” that should be introduced is a bill authorizing the establishment of training courses in the care, feeding, grooming, and proper respect for projectile weapons of all sizes and manner of design, at the high school age level or before. A passing score on this course of study, including range safety and the elements of firing for accuracy at targets of acceptable and established designation, would be required before the sale to an individual would be permitted.
Nah, no one with a chance of being elected ever challenges him in the primary.
Flush
Cornyn must be defeated in the next election
I’m good with that, so long as the right to speak comes only within a law authorizing the establishment of training courses in the logic, unintended consequences, truth, and proper respect for the actual meanings of words, at the high school age level or before.
A passing score on this course of study, including demonstrated plain-language interpretation of the US Constitution and Bill of Rights, would be required before an individual would be permitted to open their yap, or post to a forum...
Just skimmed the bill.
Upshot:
This time they will CERTIFY that agencies contributing to NICS have done so.
They’re very serious, financially & personally punishing responsible agents who do not CERTIFY their work.
They’re even going to spend $625,000,000 over five years on this CERTIFICATION & COMPLIANCE process.
Yup, they’re very serious about stating the information in NICS is correct.
Not much about _how_ they’re going to ensure all relevant data is included, but there’s plenty of encouragement about that. And certification.
Absolutely, gun use & safety should be taught in schools.
The Left insists on teaching children how to **** safely, so no reason why children should not be taught how to handle weapons safely.
Nullify.
No. BFYTW. Your move...
Who would have ever thought that any republican, even a rino, from Texas would advocate for gun control. Cornyn is a real piece of work.
Yes, background checkes really work!!!!
I hope so!
Silly me. I thought all legislation begins in the house.
The Liberals will add something to it.
Cornyn is finished.
~~~~~~~~~
Nah, no one with a chance of being elected ever challenges him in the primary.
Maybe this will be the stunt that finally breaks this RINOs back. Wish someone like Katrina Pierson would run against Cornball.
It’s not a gun control bill.
It is a bill to enforce existing laws and make sure the government is doing its job.
I have not read the text of it yet, but I think the headline is misleading.
