Cody Riley, LiAngelo Ball and Jalen Hill at Wednesday's press conference.
And all this time I thought Trump was a racist and didn’t like people of African American descent? /s/
I watched the presentation and each player read a statement that covered all the bases. Each of them showed an attitude that reflected serious remorse for their actions.
They apologized to each entity they should have. They took ownership of what they did, and they described the actions for pretty much what they were.
What they did was reprehensible. That being said, I’m a person who screwed up as a young man. I dedicated myself to living a better life, and tried to follow through. I did.
As long as these young men do, I support them. We want a behavior modification. If that comes to fruition, good. I don’t want to see their lives severely impacted by an idiotic episode. A person’s life shouldn’t be altered radically by a few very wrong actions.
UCLA has suspended them indefinitely. They won’t be attending team meetings. They will not be able to suit up at games. They won’t be practicing with the team for a period of time, yet to be determined.
In all, I believe this has been handled rather well. UCLA took it very seriously. The players seem to be sorry. This is not going to be a painless process. I believe they know they screwed up, and they could be participating with the team if they hadn’t.
Should they be tossed from the team? Perhaps so. What I am most desiring to see, is three young men that learned their lesson and went on to become something far better.
All three men mentioned their families. One mentioned God.
I’m not sure what they could do now more than what they have. Perhaps this is the first step to manhood for them.
Lets hope so. These young men were given a great chance here, being on the team. I’d hate to see them lose out on that if they can clean up their act.
Time will tell. They will follow through, or take another path and destroy themselves to one degree or another.
Oh dear... :( . As a UCLA fan, this is embarrassing. Basketball is HUGE in China, and there is a lot of America-admiration mixed with deep envy over the skill of our basketball players. Particularly that of black players. Resentment in that area, but overall, I’m told black tourists are treated well in China and Asia as a whole.
They stole sunglasses at Louis Vuitton? Surely they’d eventually make enough money to afford a pair without having to steal. Good grief!
.
I wonder if they shouted “Hands Up -Bon’t Shoot” or “Black Lives Matter” to the Chinese police?
.
These youts should have thanked their President at the AIRPORT last night
I was sitting in a watering hole last night that was showing the Duke-MSU game on one of their TV’s. At halftime the talking heads brought this up and asked what the punishment should be.
One guy said to suspend them a couple of games. Te other 2 were incredulous. It was interesting to see.
I am so sick and tired of hearing the word "mistake" being used for deliberate criminal acts. It isn't a mistake when you plan, and execute an act that's against the law.
Did they return their loot to the store they stole from?
Not a mistake; a choice. There is a difference.
I think i would dismiss them from the team. Give their “scholarship” to more deserving athletes.Let other schools deal with these brain dead players. Plus...ucla needs to divest from the Ball family. They aint worth the hassle....
Baraq Hussein’s bastard sons committing crimes around the world. Didn’t he have a white girlfriend at some point ? That would explain the middle one.
A mistake? I wouldn't describe it as a mistake. This was a criminal act.
Just saw them on Fox and there is proof positive they know how to read...........
What do you want to bet that Trump promised the Chinese they wouldn’t be visiting China again.
