President Trump got his wish Wednesday afternoon when the three UCLA basketball players busted in China for shoplifting thanked him for his help in getting them home.
The three, Jalen Hill and Cody Riley and LiAngelo Ball younger brother of Los Angeles Lakers rookie Lonzo Ball also apologized to their families and their school, while thanking the Chinese cops for treating them well.
I would like to thank President Trump and the United States government for the help they provided. I am grateful to be back home and I will never make a mistake like this again. I am extremely sorry for those that I let down, said Ball, reading from a script in a monotone.
A contrite Riley and Hill expressed similar sentiments.
All three have been suspended indefinitely by UCLA.

Well said and...we shall see what the future brings.
Well stated.
Hill admitted to shoplifting and thanked the president as well, describing his actions as "stupid" and "childish."
I had a chance to stop in Hong Kong last year, and proceeded to witness a minor car accident on day two. Huge conflict with the two drivers for three minutes....then the Chinese cops arrived. It was a 180 degree shift, total silence, and 300-percent respect of the cops. Hotel gal told me that you don’t any problem that involves the police. If you go into a court situation, you are presumed a troublesome individual.
Interesting. I’m always telling my kids, “Mind your pronoun antecedents! It’s what separates us from the savages!”
The way the headline is written, it seems like they got suspended for thanking Trump.
Which would make sense in California...
“ditch the sports, and go into something to make a real career out of”.
The new career could be an SJW in China.
I am completely dumbfounded! Shop Lifters here in the US when caught, are charged, and they go through the Judicial Process which marks their record for life and possible jail time if found guilty. Why are they getting a free pass? Potus should have never intervened..
I consider it unlikely that the players composed the statements themselves, and therefore I attribute the use of “mistake” to the school authorities.
Here’s my “judgment”: They stole from a store and got caught. They will not be subject to criminal penalties. I hope they will remember the fear they felt as detainees in Red China and will be decent, law-abiding people from now on.
I would say exactly the same thing if one of my own children were in a similar situation. “Dodged a bullet, kid. Now LEARN.”
Baraq Hussein’s bastard sons committing crimes around the world. Didn’t he have a white girlfriend at some point ? That would explain the middle one.
They stole from three high-end stores. The $700+ Vuitton sunglasses were the only specific items mentioned.

Made me think of a headline The Onion would probably come out with: "UCLA suspends players for thanking President"
“a mistake is a kindergartener writing 2+2=5...”
No, that’s the public education system.
;-)
I think these statements were craftily written. I do give them credit for showing remorse and accepting that they had to read them.
It’s impossible for me to give them unqualified high marks here. We’ll see how it goes from here.
I can’t say they are great guys, because they clearly pulled off a very bonehead move here that proved otherwise.
Not trying to be critical of your post. I’m just concerned about how they take it from here.
A mistake? I wouldn't describe it as a mistake. This was a criminal act.
If they transfer they will have to sit out one year. Personally I hope they do transfer.
